I think he's on Windows, so he could use Start -> Run -> cmd and type "dir/s c:\ggnfs*" and see what comes up.
Testing that out.

Start -> Activate Virus Which Eats Your Hard Drive Rendering It Useless->Buy a new comp-> Do not repeat.

The GGNFS is there, but the msieve is not present anywhere on the comp. I guess that was also lost with the 100 GB I suddenly lost.

How'd you lose 100 GB?

Msieve is easy enough to replace, but that's only 0.002% of the 100 GB...

I honestly have no idea. I had ≈510 GB free, then it suddenly jumped to ≈610 GB.

True enough, but it was apparently still with the 100 GB I lost.

I'm guessing there must have been 100 GB in Temp files, although it also invaded the documents and erased everything I had there as well.

Something fishy must be going on in there...

system restore ? this might get it back.

lucky me I have no restore points but I have almost nothing on my main computer drive(under 40 GB) lol

think I might need to clean temp files etc lol over 90 Mb in temp files lol.

By the way, the c120 I wanted to factor was this:

Oh, so you don't know that you lost anything. I could imagine that being temp files, though that's a bit on the large side.

science_man_88 2010-08-16 23:58

I'm doing a virus scan I found files i don't remember and I'd only save 3 Gb or so deleting all my downloads etc. in libraries.

Do you know what "it" is?
