Oh and WOW! only a 10% loss with 4 cores.
I thought I was doing good at 20% with my i5-750

Maybe I need to use your OC parms instead of the standard easy-tune

Might be a problem from the activated hyperthreading. The results from 1-8 couldn't be copied from the screen because it was out of buffer.

I would have deactivated the hyperthreading and tried it again but I don't have a 980x and I'm not sure if he will try it again without HT ...

Wait a minute...isn't the i7-980 6 cores?

If it is truly a better faster technology then 4 of it's cores should easily beat a 4-core i5-750 or i7-920.

With 6 cores OC'd I would hope for TWICE the thruput of the quads.

Roughly the multi core loss is:
1 core = 1412
2 core = 709 = 99.6%
3 core = 486 = 96.8%
4 core = 380 = 92.9%
5 core = 363 = 77.8%
6 core = 319 = 73.8%

Looked good up to 4 cores .... then hmmm

So the 4 core time is
319 vs 422 = 32% faster than Garo's i5-750 ... not bad.

When can he start :)

That's not the loss - it's the performance ... the loss is 100% - x ...

If you have a gold donkey at home you might get a 980x - in the other cases a 750 will do it quite well.
