M5 is prime - but not recoreded?
 

I was digging into all my mprime logs after about a month of running the project when I noticed this:

UID: l3vi/FS1, M5 is prime! Wd2: 000A000A,00000000

My work type is "First time primality tests". So I logged into my account here on the site and it's showing *as far as I can see* that my computer never has had any results of any type.

Work list show that I have had work, but CPU processing is zero, with Assignment Details showing two in the stack to complete in about 32 days.

I did check ps just to be sure and its running, and all logs are updating. So I know it's nothing silly like that.

I'm hoping one of you can help me understand why my server recorded a result but mersenne.org shows no results, ever.

Did you mannually set 5 as a work assignment? The Primenet server would not be handing that out. I believe that any reports of known primes (maybe only those over a certain age) are ignored by Primenet.

You mean work type right? I have my work type set to 100 - First time primality tests.

The chance that one of the 2 exponents you are testing will yield a
Mersenne prime is about 1 in 195909.

M5 = 2[sup]5[/sup] -1 = 31.

It's not exactly news that 31 is prime :)
