Mods, please try this at home:
Red rag to a bull Now you can ban me too, you petty politically-correct totalitarian control- freaks.
No Butch. I've tried sublty and it just goes over their heads. I met one of them recently, and half way through our first pint of Bombadier I asked him if he had voted in that poll "When will a 100M digit prime be found?" He said "No, I thought it was a silly question". I replied "I voted for after 2025". That got his brain going: Moore's "Law"....computing power doubling every 2 years... 2^7 is 128 isn't it? I concurred with this. I then ventured to suggest that the chance of a number with 100M digits being prime was ten times less likely than than a 10M digit one. He patiently explained to me that log(100M)/log(10M) was 8/7 and not 10 and added "It's called the prime number theorem". This followed a twilight walk when I spotted a light in the sky. Me: "Is that Venus?" Nameless: "Is it a plane?" Afghan Hound: "No. It's Supermod" David |
Moore's "Law"....computing power doubling every 2 years...
Wow, yet another variant of the "law".
I thought the "law" was the clock speed ... no wait, it was the transistor count ... no wait, maybe it was the chip dimensions ... no umm, perhaps it was the level of user dumbing down ... no no no, I got it now, it was the number of people that quote the "law" wrongly that doubles every time period. Yeah, that is it. |
Scientists Discover New Proof of the Neanderthal Within:
It turns out there really is a little caveman in a lot of us.An international team of scientists has for the first time decoded the complete Neanderthal genome, and the results, to be reported in the May 7 issue of Science, offer new insights into our closest evolutionary relatives and an exciting new way to explore the genetic basis of what makes humans unique. But the big news? The scientists also found evidence that humans and Neanderthals interbred. And the results of that prehistoric coupling can be found in most people's DNA.
Is this really surprising? Not to piss people off, though I know I will, but since evolutionary theory is nothing but a pretty fairy tale referred to as science, it makes perfect sense to say that we're related to Neanderthals. Neanderthals were simply human beings that looked different. A similar effect will happen over the next 500 years, as everyone's DNA mixes into a more homogeneous whole. If you separate a small sample of human beings from everyone else and keep it that way for 1000 years or so, then certain characteristics will tend to dominate, especially if that society considers it a good idea to have sex with young teenagers(shorter period between generations). Human beings make human beings, gorillas make gorillas, wolves make wolves and through careful recombination make variations that people are actually willing to allow into their homes(dogs). It isn't brain surgery people. |
Go here. Start reading (if you dare). |
since evolutionary theory is nothing but a pretty fairy tale referred to as science,
Your comment might mean something if you could demonstrate that you actually understand evolutionary theory -- and I don't mean just the caricature of evolution presented by creationists, but real, actual evolutionary theory. Until then, you're just repeating propaganda.

I think that is your cue.
How could I have missed that? (Thanks for the private tip off) One of my all time favourites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5M_Ttstbgs&feature=related "Haunting" is a good description. Enjoy, David |
