I'll have to watch House.
Do yourself a favor and start with season #1, as p(show jumped the shark at the end of season #5)>0.5
I am a huge House fan!
It appears we have a lot in common. I'm still a fan but I think the older episodes are a lot more fun.

New Mersenne Primes

Personally speaking, I wouldn't give a toss if we were to
include 2^1 - 1 and 2^0 - 1.

You're arguing that the numbers 1 and 0 should be regarded as prime?

Not giving a toss doesn't get us very far does it?
So what are the positive benefits of your idea?
So what are the positive benefits of your idea?
I know you are not asking me, but I am going to answer anyway. The great benefit that I can see is that we can now stop searching for any more primes. Defining 1 as prime automatically eliminates every other number as a candidate. And since 0 is divisible by 1 then it is also not a prime and is a prime at the same time. :ermm:

Yeah, I know: :dnftt:

Tossing

"wouldn't give a toss" was an an allusion to the "coin tossing" thread
in "puzzles" which (as hoped for) generated mass debate about the distribution
of Mersenne primes.

Musing on the graph of log(exponent)/ranking number, it occurred to
me that the best fit straight line could easily pass though the origin.
(log(1) = 0).

OTOH log(0) might really put a spoke in the wheel.

When you fill out the "Recipients" part just type the first three letters, wait a few seconds, and the system will list the matches for you.
