We have managed to adopt out two of the kittens. We think we will keep the boy kitten. He is very calm and friendly. (The others were extremely vocal and "needy", which we suppose some people think is cute.)

Glad to hear it - roughly what age you figure they are now?

If the 2 adoptees live in your area, I suggest a follow-up visit to their homes s.t. in the next week or 2 ... a cat which adopted us as kids and was pregnant had a litter of 4, 2 of which we adopted out a few months later, once they were weaned and litter-box trained ... the family which took one turned out to be abusive, my Dad retrieved the poor traumatized kitten a couple weeks later after getting a heads-up from another neighbor ... he - the kitten, that is - lived a long and happy life back with us, but was never the same, he was forever after terrified of loud men's voices and heavy footsteps.

Re. the pic - it is indeed true that no one can relax quite like a cat can relax. :) Has he discovered the joys of jumping on your desk and running acros your computer keyboard while you're working yet?
Glad to hear it - roughly what age you figure they are now?
3-4 weeks? He started using the litter box and eating canned cat food about a week ago. (We still give him milk from a bottle a few times a day.)
Has he discovered the joys of jumping on your desk and running acros your computer keyboard while you're working yet?
We set up a cat-proof room (our bedroom) for him so he has full reign over the floor. (We recently replaced all the carpet in our house with ceramic tile. Great for cleaning up messes and stuff!)

PS - Painting and ceramic tiles are two jobs we will never ever do again!
We just got some rain from that one.
I pulled off of I-40 highway to wait it out near Brinkley. In Memphis I sheltered in a hotel while the tornado warnings were going off. After that I headed west.

Hmm. Looking at the National Weather Service forecast for Jonesboro, AK it looks like you're in for a few inches of rain or perhaps more (possibly some heavy rain in thunderstorms) and maybe some stiff wind Friday. Doesn't sound too bad, unless flooding is an issue in your area. Hope the lights stay on...

Man oh man, how desperately we could use some rain like that here in the burning state of CA. Have to admit watching the blood-orange-tinted gibbous moon setting over the SW hills last night was quite a sight, tho.

California hasn't burned enough. For about a century. https://www.propublica.org/article/they-know-how-to-prevent-megafires-why-wont-anybody-listen
