Curious about "strange" user in stats
At rank 135 of the first pass stats, we find a user called: "Digital
I wonder if this is one of Digital Concepts nodes that are configured wrongly? |
It looks like a PC from Digital concepts. But as long as the machine continues to send with this user name it makes no sense to move the results over to his account as the next result will again go to the strange name.
And maybe he even wants to run a different user. So I wait for a request to move the results. |
opyrt, ltd,
One, thanks for observing this and two, for being willing to combine my wayward account/s with my desired account. I configured one PC to the new client/server. The old client/server worked when I double-quoted my nick (needed because of the space in "Digital Concepts"). Apparently that hasn't been working with the new release. I just tried removing the double quotes and now have a result under Digital as well. ltd, can you advise me how to designate my nick with the new software? Second, is there a place to view WUs by/with machine nick. One more question, what is the method to cache at least one WU in reserve with the new software? |

This one I know! If you look in the beginning of prpclient.ini (or master_prpclient.ini), you'll see an explanation of the different sections of the server string. The third field is named "workunits", bolded in the following string: server=PSPtest:100:1:www.psp-project.de:7100 Setting it to "2" should ensure you have a cached WU at any time. Rogue: If you're reading this thread... Does PRPNet support userid's with spaces? |
Actually, not quite. What that will do is make PRPnet do work in batches of 2: i.e., it will download two, do those two, return both of them, and then grab a new batch. It sort of works a lot like the modified "batching" LLRnet client that PrimeGrid put out a while back, rather than like the stock LLRnet client. |
I have to ask also how it work with user names with spaces in it. I have checked and all the other users have names without spaces. Maybe rogue reads this post and can give an answer. Sorry but there is no place where you can see WU by machine ID. This is something only visible within the log files. |
I already got an answer.
Embedded Spaces are not allowed in the llrnet server. I would suggest to use an "_" instead if that is OK for you? If you like another name it will also be very easy to change it. If you want to stay with the old name you also have to stay with the old prpnet server. Tell me when you have switched all clients to the username you like ( or switched the one machine back to prpnet) and I will merge "Digital, Digital and Digital concept back into one user account. |

On the other hand, I'm pretty sure that PRPnet doesn't, though I haven't tried it. |
This is the answer I received from Rogue.
Embedded spaces in nicknames cause problems with the server, thus they are not allowed.
|

The old LLRNet server supports spaces (Digital Concepts has been running on it for years). The new PRPNet server does not support spaces as Rogue told you... |
You are totally right.
I should not try to post something useful after a day full of meetings. |
