It says it's 3:12 pm GMT, when actually it should be 2:12 pm. Compare with the time at [url]http://www.mersenne.org/primenet/[/url]

GMT is 4 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time in North America, 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time.

This has been mentioned before...

It has something to do with daylight saving time...

Just find a value that works and add it to your profile...

Feel free to search vbulletin.com and find us a solution... I'm stumped at the moment...

I set up all of my servers to use GMT, but it looks like the server we have right now is set up to use local time or something...

Honestly, this is driving me bananas...

This may sound really dumb, but I stumbled onto it shortly after reading this thread ... :huh:

On XP home edition; I d-clicked on the time because it was an hour off.
There was a third tab "Internet Time". Under it was:[Quote][x] Automatically synchronize with an Internet timer server

So perhaps it uses the servers time zone?

I tried [Update Now] and got some error about the peer's stratum being less than the host's stratum.
(?translation: I'm not logged on as admin?)

Anyway, check if the server has this feature, and if it is enabled, disable it!

We do run ntpd, which does the same thing you are talking about...

Looking at the vBulletin forum threads on GMT and time zones, I get a slightly uneasy feeling about interpretation and treatment of GMT time. I am thinking that it might be a good idea to let this issue sit until after October 26th.
The [URL=http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/results.html?query=Greenwich+]Current local time in Greenwich[/URL] as I write this matches the display of this bulletin boards reading for GMT. Since Greenwitch, England is currently on UTC/GMT + 1 hour because it is in British Summer Time, it will revert to UTC + 0 hours after October 26th. I am curious to see if the bulletin board will display a different GMT time then. It shouldn't because GMT/UTC time has no summer adjustment. I wouldn't be surprised to see that the bulletin GMT time display changes anyway.

Is it a Linux box?

Perhaps you could edit [font=courier]/etc/sysconfig/clock[/font] and edit the UTC line to say
[font=courier]
UTC=true
[/font]
(or add this line if it doesn't exist)
and then reboot?

We don't have root access...

I logged out and checked the time and it is now correctly showing UTC time...

So I guess we are good to go until April... :unsure:

Glad that it works out for at least 6 months. I noticed on vBulletin.com lots of discussion on time zone issues. Notable quotes from vBulletin team members:

"Trust me, I would parade around if we got rid of DST."

DST for me has long been called "Daylight Stupid Time" - part of my heritage as a Hoosier born and raised, I guess, since Indiana is one of the few states that ignores that particular stupidity of law....
