We could eventually start a collection for the replacement of a new server also we could try to pay entropia to do code updates and stability just a thought....

Nah, I'm not gonna cut your head off. Maybe your fingers though (so you have no "voice" here ).

We don't need to "update" the software we have now. That's why we have all these funky quirks now. We need brand new software, which is what v5 was supposed to be. Unfortunately, that effort seems to have stalled...

As far as new hardware, I don't even remember what v4 is running on now, so I have no idea...

EDIT:
George is probably caught up with all the M42 stuff. He will get around to it eventually. You cna manually unreserve the exponent using the advanced menu.
Well, the exponent is gone from my individual report now, but no credit has appeared...

We didn't even need that a year or two ago when this was really being talked about and actually acted on. It's too bad I didn't know any PHP or SQL at the time, otherwise I would have volunteered to be part of the "team". I'm still not an expert on it, but I'm relatively familiar now.

Speaking of that team, does anyone even remember who was on it? The threads containing that knowledge have long since disappeared...

I quite honestly have no idea what needs to be done for v5 to get it working, but I volunteer my PHP/MySQL skills to make it happen.
Is anybody actively working on it now, or is it just a good idea laying dormant?

scott works on it sometimes idk how much tho....

http://scottkurowski.com/research_projects.htm

if you read top of page begins quote
You can email me to download my code projects as-is, though I may not support them. Min VC++ version required to read project files is given in [brackets]. I don't have much Perl code work but as I dig it up I'll post it. Note: some projects have license agreements you must agree to abide by in order to download them.

v5 news update:

Now v5.mersenne.org is running an MS IIS server that spits back:
No web site is configured at this address.
The purpose of this thread is moot. v4 PrimeNet has been stablized and restored to full capacity, and v5 PrimeNet will be in beta within a few months and in early production use by May.

Yeah, it's much faster now! :showoff:
