Taking 3945A: started download now, should have a matrix by the morning and will then decide which machine to run it on.
Are there any plans to do some harder sieving given the level of linear algebra capability Jason's amazing code has made available to me and WraithX ? 31-bit LP and 15e siever are fine up to C180 or so, 32-bit and 15e look OK up to SNFS280. |

Hey everyone, I have a question about how best to split up sieving work over many different clients. I'm wondering, when you push out work units to the boinc clients, how large is the range you push to each client? Do you have clients work over 1e3 (Q, is it? Or maybe special-Q?), or 10e3, or 100e3, or 1e6? In ggnfs parlance, I'm wondering what the -c value is you push out to workers? Or is this somehow variable, perhaps depending on machine capabilities?
I'm asking because I'm about to start a very large job myself, and I've created a basic web page (php) that hands out Q/range jobs to any "client" that visits that page. I'm not sure I want to manage 500e3 results files by using range=1e3, but I'd hate to run into any unforeseen difficulties by using too large of a range. BTW, what kinds of problems might I run into if I do use too large of a value for -c? |
