It could indicate that you're limited by memory bandwidth, but I doubt your 16 GB of RAM are made of a single stick.
We have two sets of these installed for a total of four sticks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

Dubslow: Oops, I stand corrected. I'm used to the mobile i5 parts, which are dual cores with HT.

np_111 Stats
@Xyzzy: Could you post the expanded size of the .dat file (e.g. 15.7 GB) along with the log file. Walter likes to collect certain stats on these numbers.
Thanks. |
I think it is important to make notice on the increase of sieving work from last three days at NFS@Home project.
Here (http://boincstats.com/en/stats/88/project/detail/credit) you can find the last 60 days of NFS@Home total credit. Carlos |
We had a brief power outage two days ago that fried one of the power supplies in one of our computers. We seem to get one or two power outages a week, and all of them are for less than a second or so. To combat this irksome issue, we ordered four new battery backups to cover our i5 boxes. Shipping from Newegg was free and they arrived in less than 24 hours (!) because Newegg has a distribution center in Memphis, Tennessee. Surprisingly, the included USB cord works with our Debian systems OOTB!
257W? Isn't it a bit weak? :surprised
Luigi
If all you want is to protect against very brief power glitches you (very probably) don't need the full rated power to be supplied. By the time the UPS voltage has dropped by being overloaded the mains supply is back in operation. Keeping a system up long enough for it to be shut down safely in the complete absence of mains power is a rather different matter. |
The boxes are headless and draw less than 150W each, so we have around nine minutes of runtime.
We were going to get one big UPS for all four but if that broke all the boxes would be without protection. In a worst case scenario we could put two boxes on one UPS and survive the mysterious momentary power glitch that plagues us. We are lucky to have electricity out here in the middle of nowhere so we are careful not to complain. :rakes: Plus, our cost is only 5.5¢/kWh. The i7 box has this and the AMD box has this. |
