Er...why would the N-1 part be useless?
N-1 is only necessary for k*b^n+1 forms.

gd_barnes 2009-10-08 20:59

Excellent!

I have now updated the reservation file in the 1st post to remove k=57023 and the reserved ranges.

Oh, duh...I already knew that, but somehow I'd gotten this drive mixed up with the Sierpinski one and thought we were doing +1. My bad.

Gary, I don't see where Batalov posted completion of his 482K-500K range, but I see you've marked it as complete in the table; did I miss something, or is this a boo-boo?

Batalov 2009-10-09 01:21

No error. It's done and PM'd.
It was not processed sequentially, that's why the PRP actually came almost last.

Ah, cool. BTW, since it was not processed sequentially, did you sort the results before sending them to Gary, or are they out of order? Gary, if this is the case, send me the results and I'll get them sorted.

Serge,

Is there anything stopping you from submitting your prime? As a general rule, after proving it yourself, it is submitted to top 5000 and after that, it is posted here. (If you've proven it, it's not necessary to wait until top 5000 proves it also before posting here.) It's safer that way. No use to chance someone trying to steal your thunder.

To make it official: Serge reported completion of n=482K-500K in an Email. I thanked him greatly for sending nice clean sorted results so no processing is needed on your part. He even included the k=57023 pairs that were not processed due to the prime with a comment by them to that effect.

You weren't supposed to be paying THAT much attention. lol

Thanks again Serge!

It is there. If you look at the Top 200, the #182 slot is ominously vacant -- while it is being verified, that is. In Chris's case it took about a day (scroll down; they use a slow linux box, and an old program version, with safe limbs, too!) In a day or two it will show up.

That is strange. I've never seen a submitted prime not show up in the status link at http://primes.utm.edu/primes/status.php, even before the site has verified it. Chris's prime was there during the entire 20 hours verification. I wonder why this one is different.

The status link is how I always check for recent submissions, proven or in process. I guess in special cases like this, in the future, I'll do a search on the specific form. Perhaps the size has something to do with it. But Chris's isn't much smaller than yours so I'm not sure why that would make a difference here.

Come to think about it, I never saw Daniel's base 18 prime until it was verified. Of the 3 recent big CRUS primes, only Chris's showed as "in process" (colored orange) in the status link. Maybe Prof. Caldwell changed the display procedures after Chris's submission.

I just realized something even more amazing after looking at the top 200:

Serge's recent base 6 prime is the largest non-base 2 prime EVER submitted excluding GFNs, which test as fast (or faster) than base 2.

It just barely tops the largest base 5 project prime of 257708*5^535176-1, which will be at 186th place after Serge's prime is "officially" in 182nd place. Daniel's prime will be at 194th place and Chris's prime will be at 205th place. I wonder how many projects have found 3 primes in the top 205 of all time in a week?

One the verification is complete, our project score will have more than doubled with these 3 primes and we will have moved from 18th to 14th place. As for big primes, we're still in an infant stage as a project but this is a great beginning of things to come.

Remarkable!
