Please stay in the Misc Math forum, science_man. |
I've tried to find a pattern in mersenne exponents, but most tell me I'm crazy. If I can find a pattern to aid the other pattern I can narrow what ones to check to at most 9 primes per mersenne prime possible exponent. want to try and help me figure it out ? Or do you have a fear of being hated.

talking originally about a prime finder code is not unrelated to primes.

science_man_88,
do not post in threads outside of this one. Alex |
You have no business to be writing prime-finding programs if you only have a Year 6 understanding of mathematics.

Ban the Science Man!
Ooh, catchy, maybe there should be song by that title.... |
You have no business to be writing prime-finding programs if you only have a Year 6 understanding of mathematics.
One does not have to understand the mathematics, but one can still write code to do the calculations. Computers are easy to program, but finding the proper formulas/algorithms is hard. So I usually just take a maths paper and code up a working program even though I do not understand the underlying mechanisms that went into the maths paper.

Year 6 is composed of children aged 10-11. I would have thought that someone who only has a Year 6 knowledge of maths wouldn't know how prime finding programs work (ie. they wouldn't know SoE etc.)
Ban the Science Man!
If I could, I would. My idea is that the forum shouldn't be littered with loads of posts by cranks when this could have been avoided by banning them. |

I think that unless we use up half the energy in the universe we will never move the universe to go through it like that as I think to travel the speed of light takes about 4.49 joules per kilogram mass which means to move the universe we would have to use up half the energy and hence half the mass of the universe in pure energy to travel the speed of light for long distances.
