Here's evidence that he's still alive: http://news.yahoo.com/nobel-physics-laureate-higgs-overwhelmed-181842775.html
Edinburgh (AFP) - British scientist Peter Higgs said he was "overwhelmed" after he and Belgium's Francois Englert were jointly awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics on Tuesday for their work on the Higgs Boson particle. "I am overwhelmed to receive this award and thank the Royal Swedish Academy," Higgs, 84, said in a statement released by Edinburgh University, where he is emeritus professor of theoretical physics. . . .
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/higgs-nobel-prize-reaction-014509354.html
Nobel Prize-winning scientist Professor Peter Higgs will give his reaction today on receiving the prestigious award. . . .
His Wikipedia article has no death information. |

A friend of his said that the committee had yet to speak to him. The friend had not talked to him either. At the time of the interview, he had yet to be seen or heard from publickly since the time of the announcement.

Along the same lines, has anyone seen Prof. Higgs' cat Bo?
[It's apparently a Japanese-language pun on the part of the prof. - using the Japanese honorific for males, the cat is "Bo-san".] |

Higgs' Bo's son, the bosun, is bossin' a crew on Bo's barque under the bite of a cat o' nine. But that is another tale (bilge rats and scurvy dogs all).

I'm glad to see that the "bo's'un" option got taken up so enthusiastically.
As to the cat, let's hope he did not wander over by the Schrodinger place. There's no knowing his fate then. |
