[QUOTE=xilman;288116]Why don't you try reading the article in question?
If you did, you would find this: '[I]"The planet is around one star in a triple-star system," Vogt explained. "The other stars are pretty far away, but they would look pretty nice in the sky." [/I]'. AFAICT this gives you your answers. Pauil[/QUOTE] I did read it ! admittedly I missed the quote. that's like saying the galactic centre is far away it has no effect on us. |

To be fair I missed those particular details as well. |

The hard part is figuring out what's hype and what's fact. I think the article does a pretty good job of separating the two, though. |

Folks - especially SM88 - could we please not simply paste raw URLs here? How about adding a title and few-sentence-excerpt from the article to give potential readers a quick way to gauge whether the piece is likely to be interesting to them?
Here, I'll help you out - just copy the following link-wrapping piece of bbcode, remove the @@@ I added to allow the underlying code to not get rendered as such by the forum bbcode engine, and when you want to post a link, replace the {url here} with the URL, paste the article headline into the [headline here} slot, and paste a snip from the article in between the quote boxes. [code][@@@url={url here}] {title here} [@@@/url] [@@@quote] {excerpt here} [@@@/quote][/code] Thank you for your cooperation. |

Actually SM, I've found that most of your yahoo links don't work, though I agree that hovering on the link is an excellent method of determining what lies ahead. I use it everywhere.

When I hover over one of your typical links, first I've gotta position the cursor just so, and make sure not to jostle it even the slightest bit, then I've got to take my eyes off your post and look down to the bottom bar of my browser, where I see sparsely-informative text like this in the middle of URL-crud: magnitude-6-8-earthquake-shakes-central-philippines-no OK, great, that took me more effort and much more hand-eye coordination than reading a simple sentence would have. You are presumably posting a link because you think it may be of interest - so spend the 10 seconds needed to decently format it! Sheesh. Which is more pleasant? Going through the above hand-eye-movement exercise to recover 5 keywords, or simply being able to read something like the following? [url=http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/31/science/these-mammals-pack-a-toxic-punch.html?_r=1&pagewanted=1&ref=general&src=me]Warm and Furry, but They Pack a Toxic Punch[/url] [quote]What’s black and white, with a skunkish look to its cover, And from bark wrests such bite it makes lions fall over? Meet the African crested rat, or Lophiomys imhausi, a creature so large, flamboyantly furred and thickly helmeted it hardly seems a member of the international rat consortium. Yet it is indeed a rat, a deadly dirty rat, its superspecialized pelt permeated with potent toxins harvested from trees.[/quote] |
