Mysterious elongated interstellar objects swinging through the solar system on their long journey whence we know not, 'where' surmisable based on measured orbital parameters reslting from the visit -- reminds me of a classic SciFi novel I read in my early teens, Arthur C. Clarke's Rendezvous with Rama.

Directed graph celluar automata and physics.

I discovered this only a couple of hours ago and it already looks very interesting.

https://www.wolframphysics.org/

Wolfram has been having interesting ideas about cellular automata since at least 1981 when I first met him; I'd been interested in them for as few years previously.

What appears especially exciting about this new formulation is that GR and quantum indeterminancy seem to arise naturally as emergent phenomena.

Egan's fictional "Sarumpaet's Rules" are a hand-waving forerunner. I wonder if Egan based them on Wolfram's earlier musings.

Gigantic "murder" hornets found in USA & Canada.

Just what we need; another hideous invasive species. These are serious insects; the largest
can be 2 inches ( 5 cm ) long and they kill about 50 people a year in their native Japan.
They also destroy bee hives ( their primary food ), posing yet another threat to these essential beleaguered pollinators.
They also destroy bee hives ( their primary food ), posing yet another threat to these essential beleaguered pollinators.
If you are talking about the European honeybee in the USA, you are talking about another non-native. Essential only because all of the natives have had their habitat disrupted and the massive amount of crops in an area that need simultaneous pollination.

Honeybee hives may simply be a "target of opportunity."

They'd probably make quick work of "Africanized" honeybees, AKA "killer bees."

...
When I stumbled on "The 5G-powered mobile robot" I knew that article was just a lot of word waiving, typical marketing : a lot of buzz-words and no content. .

But lets take the article seriously, if 5G is powerful enough to power a robot, I hope none of it will be installed in the city I live in ; - )

That unfortunate choice of words set aside there remains the fact that I can't understand why a robot designed to clean rooms in a building needs more communication than could be provided by a 9600 b/s modem ? If you need to remote control the thing one could use 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth or whatever, especially since prior to cleaning there must be evacuation, which means the thing is not unattended.

All that data generated by something inside your place has to get back to the maker so they can sell it to everyone that buys it. It is your privacy they are selling, the cleaning part is just a ruse to get you to bring to your place willingly.

And when your current data has been fully mined and exploited they will remotely make the device obsolete so you have to buy another one that collects more data points more efficiently.
