Perhaps he was trying a small-scale version of this? Digging for gold in sewage Even if he could get the recovery rate they have (1890g per tonne of ash, not raw :poop:), surely he'd get more out of his high-tech garbage. Or maybe he tried that, and that's why he's mad as a hatter. :max:

Not really...he's got another 15 minutes of fame, even if it's not good enough for Guiness.
Some downtown workers are choosing to pay a $10 parking ticket rather than plug a meter, the City of Saskatoon says.

The $20 minimum amount was chosen because a meter generates $18 a day in revenue at $2 per hour for nine hours.
so if they only gave you one ticket a day they lose out on 8 dollars , so it seems paying the ticket is worth it over paying the meter you save 8 days worth of tickets in 10 days. so the total cost for parking is a total 20 for 10 days. versus the 180 you pay otherwise.

I think the term special needs is a crap term because everyone has their own needs unique to them.

Christenson 2011-11-20 18:51

SM88:
"special needs", like "handicapped", is a PC term. Special needs can be abused, but there is a whole range of children out there that need something more than the usual. A coworker of mine has an autistic child. It isn't going to work for anyone to have that child in a normal classroom. When I was studying for my master's degree, we had a deaf student and a sign-language interpreter for him. How would you describe such situations generically? The need is unusual, I've never seen it twice, and the guy really did need it!

Not that "special needs" doesn't get abused. We all know of those that abuse the system.
