If it were really 1 in 278 million, the chances of anything like that happening in the history of major sports is ridiculously slim. So ridiculously slim that it's far more likely that his numbers are off than that it happened. I think he's ignoring some number of large factors. Probably the largest is that the players aren't random number generators, but people. People with drive to overcome losing positions, or that get too comfortable with their lead and slack off. Of course, the opposite effects can happen too.
