Canadian girl takes second at Scripps """""""""""""""""National"""""""""""""" Spelling Bee. a few things here national = of a nation not a continent ( hence no people from the USA should be allowed ( a person from Pennsylvania won) as they aren't from where it's hosted) second since it's only supposed to be national not continental it should be no surprise that a Canadian won second prize as they should be winning all the prizes.

okay so it should only be USA apparently because the site is .com suggesting mostly USA the point is yes we should be caring who can spell we should not however call an event national if it's allowing multiple nations

I just ready it as the basics of word meanings come nation + al = of or pertaining to a nation. inter+nation+al = of or pertaining to many nations.
