Ah. Okay, I obviously missed that. I mean, an actual odd perfect number would be a monumental discovery.

Hi everybody, and congrats on this new prime finding. I´ve been a GIMPS participant for over 7 years, actually I joined after reading about M39 on a portuguese newspaper. It´s been good fun ever since, and it´s been a real pleasure to be part of the nice and friendly GIMPS community. Something I really appreciate about this forum is the level of education, politeness and sense of knowledge sharing among the members.
I am not in the actual prime hunting, as I currently only do DCs and TF, due to lacking hardware powerful enough for the current FFT sizes. So this particular finding has been rather peculiar for me, for having triggered the thread devoted to M46(?...). I will consider myself from now on a "prime spotter", rather than a prime hunter.
All in all it´s been another happy day for GIMPS, and that is what really matters. Congrats again to GW, stigmv and all of us! :toot:

M46 on a poster !
And she is so cute :)
Wait for seeing her all nude on a poster (when older than 18th, for sure) !
Tony
(OK it is a male humour... If there are girls around, just imagine M46 is a nice boy... And if you are not heterosexual... think what pleases you, I don't care)

Now, you are all aware that you have a new poster to buy !!!

Nuts, it will be the 5th... No more place on my office's walls...

Nice post, Tony. Rather funny and most definitely male humor

I think I'm going to take a pass on the poster and put my money towards saving for a far more powerful prime crunching machine. However, if I happen to discover a prime, then I will most certainly buy THAT poster!
Is "Odd M. Strindmo" an alias of Stig M. Valstad?
Certainly looks like it - stigmv appears to be the version 5 server account linked to the old "Stig M. Valstad" account.

You´d better get a bigger office!... There are many more primes waiting to be found.

Well done all! :toot:I'm thoroughly ashamed to bring this up  but can someone elucidate the money situation? Does the lucky winner get $3,000 soon, or does he have to wait until the 100 mill number comes up?!
I'm also ashamed to say that I pulled my 1 PC off gimps because I erroneously thought that there wouldn't be anymore Mersenne's anytime soon!!! Ahh well, I'm getting tired of SoB anyway, maybe it's time to move back!!!

It's not 100% clear to me, but I'm pretty sure they have to wait until the 100M digit prime is found. I know that on v4 with the prize for a 10M digit prime, it was very clear that the prizes would only be given out after the 10M digit one was found. This one's not so clear, but I think that's still how it is...
