What are your timings? At n=618k I am averaging 332 secs on a Core i5 750 @3.7 GHz. So 1k range takes ~15 days.

My i5 750 @2.67 is actually busy with other projects. I'm using 2 cores of my laptop (Core2Duo T8300 @ 2.4 GHz). About 540 seconds per core.
