256 MB PC100 SDRAM

Could anyone use 4 256 MB PC100 SDRAM sticks? I am gutting some old machines and don't have any use for these. I would be willing to send them to U.S. addresses for the cost of shipping.

If these are incredibly obsolete and I'm being silly by thinking that anyone could use them, by all means let me know.

I'm tentatively interested in a pair of them for an old box I've been trying to turn into a functional file server. I never took the time to figure out if the second memory slot was broken or if the chip I was putting into the second memory slot was broken, but I should be able to do that in the next few days.

I can use all or some of them as I still have several older PCs (AMD K6-III, AMD K7, Intel PII, and Intel PIII) doing trial factoring for GIMPS. [Before you guys ROFL, two were gifts, one is a left over when it was replaced by an AMD X2, and one runs MoneyCounts (my old DOS based accounting program) which gets a divide by zero error if I try to run it on a PC which is faster than 400 MHz. They also helped me heat my house during the last two incredibly mild winters here in Houston.]

There are only 14 year formats to worry about. Pick a pre Y2k year that matches and go.

Ok. I will wait a day or two to hear back from Kevin. If his slot is not broken, I will send two to him and send two to RMAC9.5. Otherwise, I will send all four to RMAC9.5.

Kevin 2009-04-23 05:56

Looks like neither was broken, all 4 are yours, RMAC9.5 . I can also send you a single stick of 128MB PC133 if you have a use for it.

Thanks Guys

Tom, I replied to your PM. Let me know when you get my reply so that I will know if I replied properly (my first PM on this forum, etc.)

Kevin, thanks for the offer. Let me take a closer look at my PCs during the next few days to see what can fit where and I will let you know.
