I'll take 71082!

Mini-discussion moved over here - the ranges and status thread isn't a place for discussion of reservations etc.

I am now done with 13350. Status:

13350; i=778; sz 108; C103; +33; 2^6*127

I also extended 21090 but am not reserving it. Status:

21090; i=2312; sz 101; C97, +13; 2^2*7

71082: The downdriver run (including the driverless time shortly after it) bottomed out at 75 digits, then it acquired 2^3*3*5 and still has it at 100 digits. I'm at size 100, and a c94 that passed all the ECM aliqueit.exe wanted for SIQS.

Would it be possible to keep reservations and releasing out of the status and retired sequences threads?
It makes more sense to keep them in their respective threads and also it reduces the number a threads we find them in from 5 to 3. There is nothing more annoying than doing several and then finding you have missed another one because it is a random place.

You could rename the aliquot sequence reservations thread to be 'Aliquot sequence reservations and releases' (or something like that) for more clarity. I mean I was reserving in the reserve thread and retiring in the retired thread.

Feel free to delete all my old 'retired' posts in the retired list thread.

I am now done with 19680. Status:

19680; i=2909; sz 108; C106; +27; 2^2*3*5*7

I also extended 21552 but am not reserving it. Status:

21552; i=630; sz 105; C88; +9; 2^2*3^2*7

gd_barnes 2009-08-13 07:19

I am now done with 19128 and 19440. Statuses:

19128; i=989; sz 113; C110; +44; 2^4*31
19440; i=503; sz 107; C103; +15; 2^2*7

A factor of 13 has occurred on the last 3 indexes of 19440. I'm not sure if that should be shown. My thinking is no because it usually occurs inconsistently.

The only thing remotely interesting about these is that the factor of 3 dropped on 19440 on the very last index that I tested for the first time in 56 indexes.

I reserve and release in the reservations thread so you should be able to get that info. from only one thread for me. Even if it's a reservation from the recommended sequences thread, I'll post it in the reservation thread saying something like: "Reserved xxxxx from the recommended sequences thread."

I ignore the "expired sequences" thread becuase I think the term is misleading. It implies to me that the sequence will no longer ever be searched so I prefer to avoid that thread.

I post final statuses in this thread, which would include anything I've released.

Based on a suggestion from Karsten, I don't post a status until I am complete with a sequence, although I might post an interim status if I come across a downdriver or something else particularly interesting in a sequence.

Let me know if you want it done a different way.

My suggestion: Delete the entire "retired sequences" thread and change the "reservations" thread to a "reservations and releases" thread. IMHO, "retired" used in this context implies finality similiar to "expired".

I have been thinking about whether that would be good idea.
I think our reason for having it is we want people to get at least some recognition for their work.
Once 10metreh comes back maybe we should have a dicussion on the subject.

I think we should keep that thread because we don't want to accidentally put a reservation in the retired sequences thread. Since we split the top post of the retired thread, I've nearly put a sequence in the wrong section twice, but it's easy to notice
