I have a question. For those number with 130+ digits, is it safe to assume that ignoring the lower bound B1 (ie : 1e4 to 1e6)
and go with a B1 of 11e6 and above will allow us to factor the cofactor faster ? Or does the 'speed' increase is too low to be usefull (1e4 is a matter of milliseconds.. but atm, for the c148, a B1 set to 25e4 take me 3.5 sec each iteration, skipping the 400 iterations would 'save' me about 23 minutes)?
Technically it's still better to run ECM at 25e4, but if you don't want to have to start the next run after a short time, it's probably best to start higher.

Not necessarily as the optimal bounds are actually higher than the ones we use.

a c170?

firejuggler 2010-07-17 20:49

predicted a p58*p91, got a p53*p96... not that bad...
hmm for the 170....we shall see tommorow morning..(why? cause if there is no factor tommorow morning, it mean there is at least 45 digits on one of the prime factor); but for now, a 50/120 seem good to me

running some curves at B1=11e6 overnight...
running some curves at B1=11e6 overnight...
2 curves, no factor. The "only one curve run if no endline character present in the input file"-bug is still present.

edit: ooops - at least the bug is present in ECM-6.2.3.

I completed a bit over 1*t50 overnight. I'll let it run a little while longer. Additional curves should be at B1=11e7 or higher.

I did some polynomial searching with msieve:

Parameters are optimized. Sieve with 15e from Q=20M to 115M after ECM is adequately done.

I've seen this just now. 400@43e6, no factor. switching to 11e7.

Andi47 2010-07-28 07:11

366@11e7 so far, no factor

Andi47 2010-07-30 06:39

99 more @11e7, no factor.
