Thats a lot of sieving. I offer to take a more modest slice, 45-50T.

Thanks for the tip Brian. I'm just trying to help out a little. If that's too big a bite, then Gary and Max can reduce my numbers and slice it up any way it best helps them out. (I'm clueless) Getting excited about the 2 day rally!
First of all: Brian, we're only going up to 45T anyway at this point, so 45T-50T is unneeded. I propose the following distribution: 30T-40T for David 40T-45T for Brian That should give David a pretty reasonably sized range, which as previously discussed should take about 15 days, and Brian's range will still be the same size as his previously requested 45-50T. Guys, if this is OK with you, then I'll go ahead and send David his "care package" with everything divided up for 30T-40T on 8 cores. |
10T split across 4 computers of 8 cores each please
We don't want 8 cores on one computer doing all the work... 10T/4/8=??????? hopefully faster results. 15 days/4*8=??? |
Max,
It's 32 cores for David, not 8. I just got an Email from David and he'd like to do the entire P=30T-45T range. He's ready to start on it right away instead of waiting until after the rally. I proposed this in the Email: David, use 30 of his cores instead of 32 and we'll send him a care package with it convieniently split up in P=500G (500e9) increments over 30 cores. That'd leave 2 cores for him to work on something else. Since he can likely do a P=10T range in 15 days on 32 cores, he can easily do a P=15T range in 25 days on 30 cores. That will still put him done slightly ahead of Bruce's P=20T-30T range on 20 cores. Brian nor anyone else, you wouldn't have to do any more sieving because P=45T is sufficient. Does that work for everyone? Bruce, that will free you up to start on our next big sieving effort if you'd like after late April. Wow, this is great. I've never had people saying that others were offering to do too much work and make an offer to take it off their hands. Another reason we have such a great group! Gary |
Read your email I just sent. Don't let me get ahead of myself or slow your project down.

You wouldn't slow the project down if you completed the P=15T range in < 30 days but as you said, that is quite a bit of work for 30 cores for so long. Therefore, I take back what I suggested and am deferring to what Max suggested. Max, go ahead with the care package to David as originally discussed...312G for 16 cores and 313G for 16 cores. Brian, can you complete a P=5T range in ~30 days? I've found that one quad can do P=1T in 15 days so it would take about 2.5 quads (10 cores) to do P=5T in 30 days. If that's a bit much for that long, I'm sure one of us can pick up a 1T or 2T range if needed. If so, then we have a plan as Max suggested: P=30T-40T for David P=40T-45T for Brian Gary |

Bruce, that will free you up to start on our next big sieving effort if you'd like after late April. Gary
I won't finish the 30T until early May. The 23/24 april was for 25T, and that doesn't count 2 or 3 days for a rally. So I'm probably looking around May 10th or so just shooting in the dark here as I haven't counted out on a calendar. |

I already had you down for May 15th allowing for the rally and unforeseen problems. I knew your estimate was for a 5T range and just doubled it. That works well. Gary |
I could do 5T in 30 days yes.
It's just a matter of allocating more tin. 20 fast cores will be 15 days with a bit of time in reserve. 10 fast cores will be 30 days with a bit of time in reserve. |
PCZ, the Tin Man ... I like it! :big grin:

You got yourself some more 920's then IB ?
|
Funny you should ask that just now... (quickly looks to see if you're behind me)
I just ordered the cpu and ram to complete the last one. Should have it online by Wednesday I think. I was never no match for the amount of TIN you could bring to the table. Have most of my video cards on F@H... Keep the GTX 295 off DCing most of the time tho. |
