Perhaps you could explain this to Chris:
I skated in ~12 annual renditions of The Nutcracker on Ice. I know it by heart.
Not thinking of the Skater's Waltz by any chance, are you? |
Couple of "musico" tests:
Turn your video screen off (no cheating or it will spoil the enjoyment)
and see how soon you recognize these well-known pieces: A B D |
The first was pretty easy. I didn't look at the video, was that the one in Albert Hall that's all blue? It was easy enough that my really old Opa recognized it in a few notes, and as he said he hasn't really heard it since he was 6, 7. (He's old enough that even in the '60s he was already complaining that the damn kids didn't know what music was. [He's almost twenty years older than you, I think.])
The second was just as easy  though it took my mom and opa a few more minutes than I to place it. My favorite rendition is this, because it seems that Mother Nature was listening and doing its best to participate with that particular one. |

My Dad was born in 1903. I'll post if I find any more challenges of similar ilk. (The point being that you will know it by the time it finishes). Did they have to wait for the Lone Ranger? D Similar offerings welcome from all directions of course:smile: |
Indeed they are the same. He was born in 1928.

There used to be a gameshow on British TV called "Name that tune"
(after hearing a few notes). If I had played it in an orchestra (or whatever) I could frequently do it in one! D |
I think I've heard of it in a show or movie or something... but I can't find a reference.
Edit: C. It's probably a lot harder than the first two, for more than one reason. |

Guessed Tchaikovsky though. These ones must be easy: D E F |
I've never heard D before... Despite what it may seem, my classical music repertoire is quite limited.
(I'll come back and edit in other answers as I listen to them. PS, you were supposed to sign your post with 'D'.) |
I'll give you 1 second for this one:
