Discussion about scoring results/primes

This thread is for a discussion about the scoring of results and primes at NPLB.

I'll be moving most of my cores off Port 9000 soon myself.
It was fun, it was a great test of the server, but now it's kinda boring...

I understand, Free-DC is already in first place...

In the amount of pairs we processed yes, but when we get the scoring in place, using exactly what they use at the Top-5000 site, not so much I'm afraid.

Go forth and recruit recruit recruit!

Looks like we have a reaction from ROLP team.

are you working on scoring then or is that still just a one-day thing

A while back Karsten set up this scoring formula for primes:

[tex]score = \frac{ln(n)^3*ln(ln(n))}{ln(333333)^3*ln(ln(333333))}[/tex]

Possibly we could generalize this to produce a score for all k/n pairs, not just primes? I'm sure it would work just as well for those and possibly make for a much more even playing field across n-ranges (rather than the little tiny n=50K-200K stuff being able to prod someone's score up so rapidly as it does now).

The only problem is that neither scoring system takes into account manual stuff. I guess I would take real pride in declaring myself, or my team, the leaders as long as you don't count everything (excuse me while I reach under my desk for my medal's box to find one for the winner).

I really, really, really could care less competing in such a bogus manner.

That said, time to put humpty dumpty back together. Not bad totals for about 30% of my cores. Back to something definately more useful.

PS: Keeping my medals for now, I earned them the right way.

BTW, great idea Max.

IMO this drive has messed up the stats a bit
drive 4 also did though for the opposite reasons

I assume that the scoring will be based on the work your computers have done using a llrnet server/port online and be fair to all.
If all you want to know is if your computers are working and which port they are on, and how much they are doing, then that would be simple, just leave it the way it is and not worry about it.
If you prefer to see credit for the amount of work completed based on some formula, provided AMDave can figure out how to use it, then we can create another column for Credit/accomplished for completed work based on ???? CPU Years ???? like ???? Top-5000 ???? site does now.

If you want to have your offline work counted to, I'm not sure how we can automate adding in the work you did, not on an online server.
Suggestions?
We are working on automating as much of this as possible, so there is less work to be done by others, like Karsten does.
If you use a server, we have an automated process, you can add some formula, or not, and you can see what your computers have done.

Certainly has nothing to do with medals, gawd knows most of us have lots of badges and certificates lying about the place...

I'm all ears on how to add offline work/credit to the database.
