Thats not going to work either is it
That's funny. We have 2 Brian L's.

Thanks for the help guys, this should be easier the next time.
I completely understand that things are being changed around at the moment and it figures I have to get right in the middle of it at right at the worst time.
But hey what are guinea pigs for, right? It's all good, anytime you need another alpha guinea pigs tester just let me know. I'm your man.
I just checked. Did you know that your prime link here is a link to nothing? Actually, it's pretty funny what comes up. Click it and see what you think.

Edit: The same thing with the Srsieve and PrimeSearch links.

I'd say I'd change my last name but I don't think my wife would approve.

Perhaps PCZ could change his last name.

Or maybe one of you could change your first name. I know: You could change your first name to Razor. Then you would be Razor Lawyer. That has a nice ring to it. :missingteeth:

Edit: Gotta get off now. Catch you all later.

Well that exercise wasn't all that bad considering all the primes found in the last 8 hours. Nice run. We hit one of those elusive hot spots in the prime world. According to my book keeping (pencil and paper) we have all primes entered and recorded.

NEXT

On a side note. According to the database, Zachariassen found his prime after testing about 100 pairs. Now that has to be a record for a Top 5000 prime.

Nice job all. :tu:

No

I've found my first prime after 8 test, found the second after 796. For my 3th prime I had to test >25000 pairs. I went from best average to worst in a few months. I'm glad it has evened out a bit so now I have a normal average.

I stand corrected. 8 WOW

It does even up over time.

I have about 700 pairs done and no prime yet.

The chances of a prime in port 8000 at the current level are around 1 in 6700 so that is quite normal. I had a recent stretch where I found 1 prime in about 35000-40000 tests on that port. Right after I pulled my machines off of it, a huge run of primes came last night with at least 2 (maybe 3) new searchers finding one. I joked that I cleared out all of the primeless area for others.

I then switched to port 5000 and found a prime within a few hundred tests with a chance worse than 1 in 7000. As MrOzzy found, it all evens out in the long run.

For the mini-drive, the chances are going to be around 1 in 5000-6000 tests.
1683*2^331994-1 is prime
Razor, for port 9000, you don't need to report them here because they are not top-5000 primes. This thread is only for primes with an exponent > 350K (350000). The admins will do it automatically in the 1st post of our 9th drive at http://www.mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=11285. Ian (MyDogBuster) is our trusty updater of primes in that post and I think he does it about once per day using a primes file that is created by the server. There are lots of them!

Edit: I see that he has already added your prime there.

I just wanted to make sure that everyone is aware that port 9000, which is used for our 9th drive, is not top-5000 work but it is fast work and you'll find a lot more primes. If you try to submit them at the top 5000 site, it will simply give you a warning message that the prime is too small. As for our stats here, you'll get more pair tests and primes but over the long run, your pair test score and primes score will be roughly the same as if you did larger tests on the other ports.
