I just accidently unplugged the server's power supply
Now its repairing the tables, some of them are marked crashed. If it goes wrong, last backup is just 8 hours old.
Would this explain some very strange behavior going on right now?

Its still repairing "Repair with keycache", I'll better close the site for some minutes.

edit: still busy. Never had to repair an 8GB table..
and done. Hope its working now again.

It seems to be running normally again, but in the process 507360 got all messed up (including the squared line bug). It looks like this:
593. 316971467384397281239264236844471515614516031876326990753480750763844986816374259235280566476218553276 = 2^2 * 3 * 281 * 80239 * 328118409583 * 110433871940958150221968192981922323909 * 32330632406504478764414691132106236170711401
One of the odd things about this is that it was at index 620 before all this happened. Perhaps related to reverting to the 8 hour old backup?
I've already tried using Repair and resubmitting factors, and that's what it does. (not to mention, the squared line bug can't be fixed by that...hey BTW will the squared line bug be fixed, or easily fixable, in the new DB?)
BTW will the squared line bug be fixed, or easily fixable, in the new DB?)
Hope so. This part is 80% rewritten from scratch, it should.

10metreh 2009-08-14 09:12

I'm not getting any sequences to display.

Edit: some are, but 4788 isn't.

kar_bon 2009-08-14 09:44

or this:

i'm getting seq 3000 not yet ended! but it has merged with 1074!

Syd 2009-08-14 10:26

I'll start converting it now, this should fix all these problems.

kar_bon 2009-08-14 10:30

cool, so a new milestone for your database!

great work!!!

10metreh 2009-08-14 11:35

When is the conversion going to be complete?

Mini-Geek 2009-08-15 05:14

The DB's back!
:w00t::w00t::w00t:
Doesn't seem to be back 100%, (I can't get any aliquot sequences to load) but it's a start.
Edit: Most aliquot sequences seem to work, but 4788 doesn't. Also, 507360 is still messed up (hopefully just a remnant of the old system), and I noticed there's no longer a fix button for broken factorizations, like http://factordb.com/search.php?id=68048886 (whether removed intentionally or just bugged to where it doesn't appear, I don't know). Also, the worker queue seems to be hung up on lots of prime proofs with no available work for any external workers trying to connect, (after I took the 55 very quick ones that were available...not entirely sure what they were, but I know it was extremely fast, under a second per work unit) but that's not too surprising.
Hopefully everything will be ironed out soon enough.

"a | b" (a divides b)

Yep. It is. Looks good. Logins are created. Great move!

I guess it is a good time as any to suggest a new feature. Here goes:

Suggestion: allow for a format "a | b" (a divides b) for bulk submission as well as in a single line submission
... a la "b = a * c * d * e *f" that already exists.

Now hold on for a minute. What does it imply? It works both ways!
1. If a completely factored, then try all factors of a on b (don't trust, check).
2. If b is completely (or even partially) factored, then try all prime factors of b on the entity a!

Example: I could then submit
2^807+2^404+1 | 2^1614+1
(2^1614+1 is completely factored. How do you like it?! ...but 2^807+2^404+1 is not!)
