Desired Features/Addins

I thought I'd start a new thread for desired features and addins for Prime95, the primenet server, here, etc. (Although I have no wish to bring anymore work to anyone :D )

Personally I'd love if there were, in addition to the accessible rank that exists on primenet, a plot of rank over time. Just a thought.

Also, not being adept at programming, I'd like if someone created an ap that could query the server give your rank, number of exponents out, all that good jazz in the system tray. Perhaps tell the health of your remote systems by checking to see if any of them are less that 60 days to expiry etc.

That's enough babble for now

I'd like remote monitoring, and a CLI interface...

Also, while the current benchmark is nice, I think it is too quick... I'd like it to run a longer benchmark, similar to what the new Glucas does... The benchmark printout that the new Glucas does is quite nice, also...

But ideally, it would be nice to have a benchmark that returns a single number, like 3dmark2001se or the SETI benchmark... Notice how 3D=dmark2001se is actually made up of many tests but they somehow average them together to get a single number...

This would be nice for comparing systems... Instead of comparing tables, which to me look pretty linear as the FFT ranges go up, we could just compare a number... Like, "I got 9878 but my buddy with an identical system got 10023! What am I doing wrong?"...

Finally, I do have a new idea for the code for George... I think it will speed up the client a lot, and to the end user it will appear identical...

[code:1]10 REM INPUT AN EXPONENT TO TEST
11 INPUT A
20 REM SLEEP FOR A SMALL BIT, SO USER DOESN'T GET SUSPICIOUS
21 LET B = INT ( A / 1000000 )
22 SLEEP B
30 REM RETURN RESULT TO USER
31 PRINT A; "IS NOT PRIME"
32 GOTO 10[/code:1]

On my Radio Shack Color Computer 3 (68B09E) I can test a 14,000,000 exponent in around 14 seconds!

Xyzzy,

Looks good to me and here I was using all these CPU cycles... Even better I hear if we just multiply some primes together we get even bigger primes. So what is the point of all this division stuff?

Factors... we don't need no stinking factors! :D

:D

Don't forget adding "one" to the result!

Don't need to add "one" according to a recent MSN.com article

i was kinda thinking a bootable version of prime would be nice

so that you dont have any of the overhead of an big os involved
it would makeing running a diskless cluster nice

and also would make running it on old machines nice just pop in a cd and forget about it

have it report its results to a central place on lan

i dont think remote monitoring should be a standard part
it should be like a plug in some places have security consirns(sp its late) already
