We have quite a lot of stickies already and the "Come Join Us" thread that I'd like to keep visible on the 1st page is frequently on the 2nd page, even with an adjusted resolution on a 19" screen.
OK, let's compromise on this one. For the week directly proceeding and the few days following a rally, we'll sticky this thread. Max, you might need to remind me. Otherwise we'll unsticky it. Does that work for you guys? This thread is mostly only used around rally times. Gary
Okay, that works. Of course, if the current plans to set up an off-site forum proceed as planned, the by the time the next rally comes around we may very well not need to play any games with the sticky status in order to keep it visible. |
All right I'll take a look at this project for our team.
Problem .. Cant find where to signup a new users. New Team please: [H]ard|OCP New Founder Please: Razor_FX_II Please let me know if there is a character problem with this team or user name. Can someone point me where to download software and an easy to follow guide to get started? Thanks |
That should be fine. As far as I know, there aren't too many limits on the types of characters that can be included in user and team names.
Regarding where to sign up: all you have to do is start crunching under your selected username and you'll automatically be added to the system. For more information on how to get set up with the client see this thread; most relevant information is linked to in the first post. |
Thanks mdettweiler for the info.
Going to try the instructions I found here. The llr-clientconfig.txt are easier to to use since they have line breaks in them and this seems simple enough. http://www.free-dc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18526 Just waiting for verification on the Team name being created. I'll give this a go and if it seems like there is minimal problems I'll approach our entire team with it with the links to the software and instructions on how to get started that I have found and see if we can give a little competition to you all. |

Our team setup guy lives in Australia so he's probably sleeping at the moment, but I'm sure it will get done. |

Wow! those run fast. 246 secs on my slowest machine. Will any time I put in now be credited to my team if the team is not made for a day or two? If a user switches teams will his points follow him and be credited to the new team that was joined? (question I will need to answer in our forum) |

If a user switches teams will his points follow him and be credited to the new team that was joined? (question I will need to answer in our forum)
The time will be credited retroactively. As far as changing teams goes, we've never had that happen so I'll have to defer an answer to the database guys. I'm sure the points will follow the user but I'm not sure what team gets what. The points are based on a formula that rewards more points for the longer tests. Points are also awarded for finding a prime (both user and team points). If you follow this link: http://stats.ironbits.net/statsnew/nplbstats.php?content=progress and scroll down about 1/3 to port IB8000 for 4/20/09, you will see that Razor_FX_II completed 23 tests in the last hour. Congrats If you follow this link: http://stats.ironbits.net/statsnew/nplbstats.php?content=user_pairs&page=2 you will see that the 23 tests are worth 40 some odd points. |
Done, should show up in the next stats run at the top of the hour. There is no 'founder' per se ...
All we need is your email address for primes notification and away you go. Once we setup the New Server and Forum, we maybe able to automate it better by using the registered name in the forum to get the email address. There are 4 people with admin rights to add teams and update email addresses, it happens in less than a day, and usually in under a couple hours. Welcome! Thank you.
I have informed my team of the project so you may be getting more requests soon. |
Schweet!
http://stats.ironbits.net/statsnew/nplbstats.php?content=team_pairs Looks like Team [H]ard|OCP has 43 points already  Something tells me you won't be on the second page for very long either  http://stats.ironbits.net/statsnew/nplbstats.php?content=user_pairs&page=2 As to the points/credits that are racked up by a user on one team, what happens to their points should they move to a new team... My preference is that they stay on the team where the work was done, how to make that happen I haven't a clue. I'll have to defer to Bok and AMDave for a solution and Gary as the project leader will have to decide how he wants it, although, he runs a pretty democratic project in that what the majority wants, he pretty much goes with. Once the new forum and domain is in place, a lot of this stuff can get ironed out and things should settle in rather quickly. It's takes up to 48 hours for the new domain to be placed in the DNS. Hopefully by tomorrow it will happen. Once it begins to resolve, hopefully we will most of it in place. |
Could the [H]ard|OCP team name in post 1 please be linked to http://www.hardocp.com/
Thank you |
