Since v26.x, new FFT sizes are available, and when smaller FFT sizes can be used, they should take less time; you therefore get less credit. I finally figured it out and mersenne-aries.sili.net P-1 (and L-L) credit calculations now match PrimeNet once again.
Good catch, yes, I saw your diligent work in the other threads and understand now why the credit was lower than "expected". I should (and did) only get credit for work I actually did.

Do we keep the pace with the LL / P-1 test in this range?

Oliver
Good one. :big grin: |
Do we keep the pace with the LL / P-1 test in this range?
Well.....
There are generally a reasonable number of exponents that are listed as "available" for P-1. We don't have a stock of exponents available for LL. That being said, the number of exponents assigned to LL goes up and down quite a bit. So, to answer your question, maybe, I am not sure. |
Here is a status report for the range from 332192831 to 332399999:
Date of data 5/20/2011 Average bit depth for first 100 expos 78.30 Average bit depth for first 1000 expos 76.69 100th active expo (no factor found) 332198357 1000th active expo (no factor found) 332245889 Unitless total effort number 145,475,584 Number of first 100 expos to 2^76 93 Number left in range 4267 Estimated expos in range to be removed 480 (by taking all expos to 2^82)

Bit # at bit level 70 778 71 1383 72 651 73 162 74 177 75 134 76 330 77 251 78 9 79 368 80 23 81 1 P-1 104 ≈9,126,755 effort
~2,100,000 effort equivalent in factors found by TF. There are 3 factors certain to be from P-1 and 7710 total factors found. The first 700 exponents remaining are at 74 or higher and the first 1200 are at 72 or better. The 332,000,000 range now has 57.26% of the exponents factored out. (Which is greater than any other range above 100,000,000. |
So supposing I want to TF one (or a handful) of these exponents from 72 to 74 (my card is good, but not super hot), how do i ask the server for the manual assignment? Do I get an exponent report and write down which ones aren't yet TF'ed to 74 bits, then ask for specifically those exponents?

Go here: http://v5www.mersenne.org/report_factoring_effort/?exp_lo=332192831&exp_hi=332399999&bits_lo=72&bits_hi=73&txt=1&exassigned=1&B1=Get+Data (you can change the range, with a GPU I would suggest that you try 74 -> 75 ).
See the exponents that you might want. Log in to PrimeNet, go to Manual assignments. Tell it 1 core and however many assignments, TF and then enter start and stop numbers that you want. |
Anybody actually LL'ed one of these numbers?(Yeah, I know, O(10GHz years), would have to be on a GPU, possibly in parallel with other exponents)

http://v5www.mersenne.org/primenet/ says yes. You can do it on a CPU, 4 cores @ 3 GHz x 1 year. |
FYI
----------=-----=-- | -----=-----=-----=-----=----- | -----=-----=-----=----- | -----=-----=-----=----- | Exponent Range | Composite | Status Unproven | Assigned | Available | Start Count P | F LL-D | LL LLERR NO-LL | TF P-1 LL LL-D | TF P-1 LL LL-D | ----------=-----=-- | -----=-----=-----=-----=----- | -----=-----=-----=----- | -----=-----=-----=----- | 332000000 51080 | 29267 1 21812 | 605 3 1768 | 19418 18 1 |
Currently 109 have had TF done and 686 have been factored to 77 bits or higher (which the PrimeNet default level before LL testing) in the range from 332192831 to 332399999. |
Seems worth a bit more TF with all that LL activity...I expect that it would take much less than a year to eliminate some exponents....
