PM box cleared out...
 

My stupid PM box has been cleared out now...

BLASTED limits!

Isn't the limit 1000 sent or received messages? And hasn't it filled up before? Seems pretty weird that you would have nearly 1000, let alone nearly 2000 PMs.

You should probably save off your PMs (near the bottom, "Download all Private Messages as:") every now and then and clear it out (before your inbox fills again :wink:).

Yes, the limit is 1000 total (that includes both the inbox and the sent folder). Both Gary and I have probably sent and received thousands of PM's by now, and thus had to clean out our boxes numerous times. (I've never actually gotten to the limit myself, since I usually clean it out before it gets past ~600; it's currently the fullest it's ever been, at 844 total.) :smile:

Maybe Xyzzy could increase the limit for mods, since they (or at least the ones at NPLB/CRUS!) exchange a lot of PM's as part of their job? :grin: I know we could just use email, but actually I've found that PM's are easier for back-and-forth conversations, primarily because it's so much easier to split up an original message and reply to each individual section in a PM than it is to do so in an email. Not to mention that the smilies are great. :wink:

Yes XYZZY; could you PLEASE increase the limit to at least 2500?

Anon is correct. I estimate I've received/sent upwards of 3000 or more PM's since I've been here. It is just a major irritant to clear them out 10 at a time and I don't want to clear them all.

XYZZY, how about an option to delete 100 of them at a time or is there already such an option? That would help me greatly!

Sheesh and I cleared out 50-60 of them just 2 days ago. That goes to show you how many I send/receive in a day's time sometimes.

I don't want to do that. I'd just like to delete about 100 at a time. I want to delete the oldest 300-400 of them. Frequently I'll refer to one a month ago, which may be 200-300 PM's back. As it is now, I just delete about the oldest 100 of them; 10 at a time.

The main problem is that here is no real WARNING that your inbox is almost full. I see the little 'progress' bar at the top of the PM page but that just doesn't resinate with me.

XYZZY, is there a way to have some sort of warning set up if your mailbox has passed 990 messages?

It'd be cool if the forum could just delete the old ones to make room for new ones when necessary, kind of like a DVR.

This only shows where it was increased to 1000. Can it be increased further for mods?

Also, can a warning message be sent? Thanks.
