P3 data needed
If you have a P3, I could use a couple of timings. Download ftp://mersenne.org/gimps/p95tst.zip
Run Advanced/Time on exponent 20000000 and 40000000. Post the best timings here. Also post timings for the same two exponents using the current prime95. Also, what is your L2 cache size? Finally, post the various strange timer numbers written to results.txt. I do not need Athlon timings or P4 timings, etc. This version will not run LL tests. Delete the executable when you are done. Thanks also to those that responded. The data has me very confused. If you look at timers 14 and 20 you'll see significant L2 cache miss penalties. Yet, by my calculations, only 130KB and 242KB of data is stored in the L2 cache. That should fit easily in the 512KB L2 cache. Invoking the CpuL2CacheSize=128 option uses an FFT that needs only 81KB and 145KB of L2 space. Another strange observation: The Athlon XP is ~15% faster, yet the Opteron showed NO improvement! |
