Indeed, I saw. There goes the last hope of finding out this week... For those too lazy to go to www.mersenne.org:
We are working on finding a suitable press outlet. Details will be announced early next week.
Oh well...

"The primes were independently verified in 13 days and 5 days respectively"

says almost everything about their (relative) sizes.
Have you tried it with the candidates for M[sub]Sept[/sub]?
No, the set of candidates of [TEX]M_{Sept}[/TEX] was not clear to me: reported in one hour, fake residue in next hour. So I never did any P-1 on those. I am however running a double-check on one exponent, but probably the wrong one.

So what are your guesstimates?
Actually... I'm just happy the verification runs have finished and I can finally get some sleep. Verifying primes is just like having a new born baby in the house. You keep wanting to wake up and check that it's still alright. I'm hitting the sack for some serious
Yes ! You're right ! Now you are addicted to verifying big primes !
I've got 4 Mersenne babies after my daughter (24) and son (19). That's your turn, it seems...
Think about George: 12 Mersenne babies !! :w00t:
Take care.
Tony

My question was not composed by Wittgenstein.
(pace Fawlty Towers).

My guess is 42M and 38M

M41 was discovered on my 41st birthday - so i guess that makes my cat Brutus the 41st reincarnation of Buddha, or something.

NMPLB!!

I have a dream. I foresee that M46's example will lead to the new movement called NMPLB (decipher it yourself). After all, with the prize money gone, the smallish exponents would look sweet again and the neglected sub-10,000,000-digit region could enjoy a new wave of attention.
