i too have been thinking that rallies have been frequent
maybe altering the number of days more often would counter that
maybe we shouldnt forget 1 day rallies for those that dont have many resources

Both good points. I think I said 4-6 weeks so let's split the diff...we'll shoot for a rally every 6 weeks or so. :smile:

We can also do a 1-day rally within a week-long rally every other rally if people are keen on that idea. We can make the next one 2 days within a week followed by a 1-day rally within a week the next time.

Like I said before, if we aren't attracting the big resources for a week, we'll drop them and go back to what we were doing with perhaps some 1-day rallies thrown in. The rally-within-a-rally is an experiment to see if it works.

Bok still has a month or more to bring up the stats so in case we don't do a rally shall we concentrate our efforts on drive 1? We need to find primes, for the moment I can only put 4 cores ( ~1050 candidates/day) but soon I expect to put more, depends on the type of machine I'll get on my new job. They wanted to give my a laptop but I asked for a desktop computer, so I am expecting at least a duo core machine.

Let's do a rally Halloween weekend. I'll definitely be in town then. It will have been > 2 weeks since the end of the 4th drive for most people. Also, most people had paired back their resources on the 4th drive towards the end.

I still like the idea of a 2 day rally within a week-long rally; i.e. the rally within a rally concept we talked about. But for this one, we'll stick to 2 days and work up to a longer one perhaps in mid-late Nov.

Yes, the 1st drive is definitely the priority now. I have 5 quads crunching away now on it now. Will move a 6th quad a little later after I get it fixed.

What does everyone think of doing a rally the weekend of the 22nd? I was thinking we could do a 48-hour rally from 7 P.M. GMT on the 21st to 7 P.M. GMT on the 23rd, on the 1st Drive. I should have my quad up and running by then, so I personally should be able to contribute more than my puny dualcore. :smile:

Gary, will you be available that weekend?

We should have enough servers available to be able to spread the load of the rally around somewhat optimally--we could load some 1st Drive work into IB5000 as was previously discussed, and Gary and I are also running G4000 which is up and running stably. And if Lennart can participate then, if necessary, I'm sure he can run L6 to put his machines on. (Though, of course, if we've got enough servers running otherwise, then we may not even need to bother with L6.)

when are the pcs off for the summer coming back on
