Nice run, Jeff ! The wind is blowing in Ottawa ! Tomorrow late in France, I think. So Sunday for USA.I don't understand how you did... Can you send me the glucas.out file ?
I was able to get it to go faster because it was running artificially slow in the first place. I was using 16 CPUs of a 128CPU system, all 128CPUs were in use, so lots of memory contention. When some other people's jobs finished, less memory contention, and Glucas sped up, I didn't do anything myself though. Ernst: Yes, the power is now back on in Canada. Luckily up here we don't have to worry about cooling our super-computers, we just have to make sure the igloos they are stored in don't melt! Tony: No wind power, this is what powers us. |
So have you finished the second verification?
Not yet. It should be about another 3.5 days. I don't think (I hope not) I'm holding up any press releases since it has already been verified twice now. |

The press apparently want y'all to suffer. I just got an email from Scott (excerpt below, "They" refers to the newspaper Scott is working with):
They asked us to NOT release the news or details to anyone else until they have the editor's final approval, and if they publish it, to wait/embargo all other outlets until the story is first out through them. |
George, was there any especially good reason not to shop the PR around as soon as the first DC of the 6 Sept prime completed last Thursday, aiming for a Friday publication in whichever media outlet(s) you and Scott agreed on?
|
How much are you getting for the exclusive, George?

No more vacations ! Get ready for M47 !
Luckily you were on vacation when the first one was found.
Yes ! And I've decided to no more go on vacations during the next 2 years ! Nom de nom !

Here is a photo of the ice from the Mont-Blanc we use per day for cooling our computers ! Tony |

Scott's been in charge of the press. I don't know the specific reasons for choosing the 15th over the 12th. I do know that one of Scott's highest priorities is for the AP to pick up the story. If he succeeds, you can expect articles in many newspapers over the coming week. |
How much are you getting for the exclusive, George?
If Brangelina can get a million for exclusive photos of their twins, I think we should get at least half a million for photos of our new babies. Alas, People magazine turned us down. |
George, Scott, what did you think of the Spiegel fluff?
