50.5-51.0M to 64bit

About 11930 exponents. Should be done in about 2-3 months. If needed earlier, I'll give up the range.

I estimate that it will be about 50 days before Primenet gets to that range. You should either choose a range a little higher, or overclock your machines more.

The range is 23% done.

Also, why is primenet handing out higher factoring candidates instead of going in order from smallest to largest?

But PrimeNet is handling out exponents from smallest to largest. Some quirks in the statistics may confuse the issue :

- The v4 server is still using the old factoring bounds, Prime95 is not, that is why it seems as if a lot of exponents from 35M to 47M seem to need more factoring (the old limit to factor to 69 started at 35200000, the new is 47450000.)

- the v5 server is synchronised manually with the v4 server.

- a lot of exponents are assigned and waiting to be treated by the users or to expire after 60 days.

All in all looking at the statistics I can not understand how you came to the conclusion that
primenet is handing out higher factoring candidates instead of going in order from smallest to largest?
If you look at the stats page there is alot of exponents waiting to be assigned from 44.5-49.7. Am I looking at it wrong or is there something else?

Take a look at the range 44.5M-44.6M, for example. There are supposedly 2044 exponents available for factoring in that range. If you want a list, the v5 server can provide one:

http://v5www.mersenne.org/report_factoring_effort/?exp_lo=44500000&exp_hi=44600000&bits_lo=0&bits_hi=68&txt=1&B1=Get+Data

As can be seen from the URL, these are all exponents which have been trial factored to 68 bits (or less). Like Jacob said: Newer client versions will perform trial factoring to 68 bits for exponents in the 35.2M-47.45M range, older ones will factor to 69 bits.

So, since these exponents haven't been factored to 69 bits yet, they are still considered available. However, since the v4 server has no idea if a potential client would factor these exponents to 69 bits, they are not being dealt out again (the v5 server might behave differently).

When the LL test wavefront hits these exponents, newer clients will do P-1 testing and then run LL tests. Older clients will first factor to 69 bits, then do P-1 testing, and finally run LL tests. The assignment is identical in both cases.
