Temporary ISP outage

Is the Base 5 server down for anyone else?

Might just be me.

/ed - updated title - was: "Base 5 server down?" - ed/

There is maintenance work at the ISP where psp-project.de is hosted.
I found out that there can be outages through the whole day.

Sorry that I was not able to warn you before.

Edit: They make some bigger work on their network infrastructure so everything running from that ISP is down at the moment. The thing is that they did not anounce the work to the customers by mail and I did not look at their homepage on a regular basis.

Thanks ltd.
No problem.
Just happy it's not a major issue.

My hitherto undiscovered primes will be waiting for me in the queue when they finish fiddling about then. ;)

News update.

There was a massive power failure at the ISP. This came in combination
with a failure of a power switch so there was no fallback to USP and local power generators.

20% of the systems were down. The ISP is working on bringing all systems back online. Everything should be back to normal late this evening. (european time)

News update:

The ISP expects that it will take till late in the evening till all systems are up and running again.

I hope it will be early enough for me to check if all the restart scripts work as expected and that there is no damage to the database.

At least i expect that the PSP project DC server will not restart itself.
If the server restart comes to late today we will have to wait untill tomorrow evening as I have a real life job.

Sorry for the outage but there was nothing I could do about it.

No problem, ltd.

If anyone is looking for work to do, they can manually reserve LLR ranges here: http://mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=10451 or a sieving range here: http://mersenneforum.org/showthread.php?t=6084

Last update before I go to sleep.

Server is still down. I talked with the support but they could not tell me when my server is sheduled for restart/recovery.

I hope that both base5 llrnet server and the PSP main llrnet server will restart itself.
Worst case scenario would be some problem with one of the databases which needs repair but I do not expect such a scenario as the server went down at 9:50CET and at that time there is no write access to the main databases.

So only some of the small transfer tables have a minimal risk to be damaged.
(At least I hope so)

Next info when I am back from work tomorrow evening.

And they are back - some time during my work on sleep@home overnight :D

ltd 2008-07-16 21:11

This is really the last update for today. 5 Minutes after i wrote the last post the server came back online.

Status at the moment:
All llrnet server are back online ( PSP, PSP DC, PSP beta,S%, R5)
Stats run for PSP was successful.
I will not wait for the SR5 runs but as test selects on the DB worked as expected I do not think that there will be any errors.

By the way everything came back without any operation from my side. So the scripts worked better then I feared.

Cheers good night and once more sorry for the outage,

Lars
