You are absolutely correct. I checked the temp again with DualCoreCenter and it reported it to be 77C while another software reported it as 85C (I cannot remember the name). I believe the difference is in what sensor they are using.
I now believe the issue is two part; While diagnosing the problem i removed the heatsink and reapplied thermal pasta without cleaning first. I am now out of pasta and need to wait for new to reapply. Also, i noticed the fan is not spinning as it should. It does not sound like the rest of the fans (it sounds like its having some resistance).
Either way, I will get new hardware tomorrow and will be back in the search then. Also I will take the "hot" q6600 and install it in a new machine (with new fans and heatsink) dedicated for llr testing :>
