Individual-k reservations k=300-400 n=600K-1M

k=300-400 for n=600K-1M is ready for testing. Sieve depth is P=26T. Individual-k reservations are available for all 50 k's in this range.

Please post your reservation and we will send you the file(s) needed.

Please plan to complete any reservations within ~6 months. A status update ~once/month stating where you're at would also be helpful.

As before, post reservations, statuses, completions, and results in this thread (or Email results to me) and post primes in the primes thread.

Also like before, a partial file can be reserved. Just state what k and n-range you would like. Of course n-ranges must be the lowest available.

There are ZERO known primes for n>600K for k=300-400! You find 'em, they're yours so let's find some BIG primes!

how long would some of the lowest weight ks take to process lets take 337 for the example

em99010pepe 2008-04-03 09:33

Is the #candidates correct for k's 307,311, 331, 337 and 373? If so I would also like to reserve k=311...
how long would some of the lowest weight ks take to process lets take 337 for the example
I can't say how long but here is a good comparison:

The average n-range here is n=800K. 70% of the n-range is n=880K.

Your testing in drive 1 was at n=335K for ~2250 tests. k=337 is 2657 tests.

LLR time goes up by the square of n so:

Using the average n-range:
(800K/335K)^2*(2657/2250) = 6.73 times as long as your n=335K range.

Using 70% of the n-range:
(880K/335K)^2*(2657/2250) = 8.15 times as long as your n=335K range.

As a general rule, it is somewhere in between the average n-range and 70% of the n-range, so split the difference; perhaps 7.5 times as long.

For most reservations here, I suggest at least 2 cores running them unless you reserve a low-weight k or a partial n-range.

They are correct. All the k's except the ones reserved by you and me are very low-weight with a couple of them extremely low weight. Even mine is below average. Only yours is above.

OK, I'll send you 311. As long as you feel like you can get your reservations done in ~2 months, that's fine. I'm placing that stipulation so that someone doesn't come in and swoop them all up at once but take 6 months or more to finish them.

Please see Karsten's web page at Rieselprime.org here for the Nash weights of the k's in this effort (average is ~1600-1700).

I'm gonna run the two k's in parallel with my drive 3 reservations after finishing helping the sieve Sierp Base 6.

em99010pepe 2008-04-07 22:03

Unreserving 301 and 311.
Unreserving 301 and 311.
OK, I'll reserve k=301.

gd_barnes 2008-05-02 22:00

k=301 is now at n=690K running on 2 cores.

k=323 is now at n=692K running on 1 core.

No primes yet.

I'm still going to n=1M with these. I'll probably add a core to them and combine their testing together at n=700K or 725K.

In other news, I made a sticky out of this (and unstickied another thread) because:

We only have 1 range left for completion up to n=480K on drive 3. Once we hit n=480K and all results and primes are verified, we will release additional k's for individual reservations for n>600K that had been previously (presumably) searched from n=480K-600K. More of these k's should not be so low weight so should have a good chance of prime for n=600K-1M.

Once drive 3 has completed to n=600K, we'll continue it for all remaining unreserved individual k's at that point for n=600K-1M.

One final thing...Ironbits had indicated at a previous time that he'll set up a "personal" server for anyone if they'd like. So if you want to reserve a k or two here and still run it through LLRnet, let him know and I'm sure he'll get you set up.

And one thing I'll add to that: If anybody takes IronBits up on his offer for a personal server, I will be more than happy to process the results. The only requirement is that you email me the exact original knpairs file that you send to IronBits, since that is necessary for me to do the processing.

In fact, I'm already doing this for Gary on port 8000--when it ran out of NPLB public work, he had IronBits load it up with some of his private work so that some machines that he no longer has access to, but were still crunching away on port 8000, would have some work to do. (Some of our more astute members may have noticed that port 8000 still shows up on the http://llrnet.ironbits.net report, but with some non-NPLB k and n values listed--now you know why.) I'm still waiting for Gary to send me the knpairs for part of the work he loaded into the server, though (*nudge nudge*).

em99010pepe 2008-05-09 16:21

Gary,

I would like to reserve k=337 to be tested on a P4 3.0GHz...send the file as soon as possible (within 24 hours). Thanks.

Carlos
