Port 2000 is now running well again. Please check your machines to make sure they have properly reconnected.

If AMDave is not available within 1-2 hours of an outage in the future, please send an Email to IronBits. He responds quite quickly. He had the server up and running within 10-15 mins. of an Email from me.

Thanks David!

AMDave,

There is some more monkey business going on. Please reduce the JobMaxTime on all of the remaining servers from 3 days to 1 day. Port 2000 can be left at 12 hours.

Guys, we may have to go to 12 hours on all servers for an extended period. Please plan ahead accordingly.

I had a power outage about 40 mins. ago so ports G4000 and G8000 will be down at the moment. I'm working on it now.

Big lightning storm here...

Right now I can't access anything on your network, not even the SSH access to crunchford (which is usually the one thing I can access even if most everything else is down). Are you having another outage right now? (LOL--I guess that's somewhat of a hard question to answer. Sort of like asking someone "Are you dead?".)

gd_barnes 2009-06-25 04:11

I'm just now getting them all turned on. I had to shut Crunchford and a few others back down because the internet wasn't working on them. I'll edit this post when they are back up.

Edit: They're all running now.

BUMP...

LLRnet ports G4000 and G8000 and PRPnet ports G2000 and G3000, and Max's personal PRPnet server are all now running. Max, the loop thing is running on G4000 and G8000.

Confirmed--everything seems to be up and running OK. :tu:

The MaxJobTime on all NPLB ports has now been set to 1 day with the exception of port 2000 that is still at 1/2 day.

I think we will leave them all at 1 day for the foreseeable future. We'll change port 2000 to 1 day within a week or so.

If you happen to have machines that need to cache pairs and then return them all 1-3 days later, please consider reserving a small manual range. They are available at any time on any of our drives. You can reserve them in as small as n=100 ranges.

If we start getting more requests for manual files again, I'll make the server reservations smaller (n=5K vs. 10K/15K/20K so that manual reservations are not so far above the servers. We stopped automatically posting files because there was little interest.

Thanks,
Gary

Just curious, did you change G4000 and G8000 too? (I'm assuming you didn't change the G2000 PRPnet server; it's at 4 days for the beta test, though it will probably be changed to something else when it goes into "official" production.)

gd_barnes 2009-06-26 05:56

No, no changes to mine. So there you go folks: If you need a longer JobMaxTime, you can try my servers. There are efforts currently running around n=697K and 900K right now. Still a fair amount of variety for only 2 servers.

David's servers are the more rebust servers that we use for larger k-ranges and rallies so we have to be more careful with them.
