Max, can you please load n=970K-1M for 6k drive #1 into my port G8000 when you get a chance?

I've decided to keep my servers intact for a while.

The k=3000-3400 portion of it will be run on PRPnet G5000. As for the rest of it, we haven't decided that yet, but are leaning towards doing it on a PRPnet server (which means probably GB at this point) if the earlier test turns out well. Fortunately the PRPnet servers on Gary's machines have been a bit more solid than their LLRnet counterparts, so they should be reasonably stable. :smile:

Big lightning storm here and I'm going to bed shortly. If you're connected to my servers, be prepared for a potential power blip and the stoppage of my machines. This is one of the more severe lightning storms we've had this summer. I'll be back on around 3 PM CDT. (8 PM GMT)

I promise I'll get a battery backup within the next 1-2 months to prevent most of such problems, at least for short term outages anyway. Fortunately my power is rarely out for more than 5-10 mins. on these blips. If I have a major outage, it's usually been 2-3 hours so it'll be interesting to see what kind of backup I'll need to run 10 quads for that long. I may just get one that will allow my server machine to stay on for up to 8 hours. That's what's really needed. I don't mind losing the processing for a few hours or a day but I don't want to affect other's processing if possible so if my one machine can handle an extended outage, that would be the most important thing.

To clarify our current thinking:

A PRPnet server, i.e. G5000, for k=3010-3400 and n=50K-400K.

Either a PRPnet server or continued manual n-range reservations for k=3010-3200 and n>500K. Likely a server unless we get very consistent and fairly quick work and reservations on the k=3010-3200 mini drive up to n=500K.

A manual individual-k drive for k=3200-3400 and n=400K-1M with a few smaller 6k drives (or something similar) loaded into misc. servers like we've done for k=300-400.

A battery backup will make the biggest difference for the problems with my servers but I need to get a static IP address also. Those 2 things will make them nearly as stable as David's machines. Although I'm sure I don't have near the bandwith, so I couldn't handle monster rallies or large resources on fast tests like n=50K-75K. But hey, you never know. That's why we're going to stress test k=3010-3400 for n=50K-75K in port G5000. Perhaps PRPnet can handle a large load better than LLRnet.

Note: Lennart has already done k=3000-3010 for n=50K-1M.

Right off, I can't think of a reason to but if some people would like to, we might consider it.

Can you think of a good reason to keep one around?

I have added new port 7000 to our servers list. It will run our 12th drive. The server is not operational just yet.

AMDave, do you need to do any behind the scenes work to make sure that the new port shows up on our hourly stats page and possibly elsewhere?

Max, I'm assuming you'll have some work to do to get it added to your status page for my servers.
