Team drive #3: k=300-400 n=260K-600K

This is team drive #3 for No Prime Left Behind. We will be searching all k=300-400 for n=260K-600K.

Karsten (kar_bon) has created a web page here that shows details for the drive. He also maintaines a site that has almost all known Riesel primes. There is a page for the range of 300<k<2000 here. The ranges searched and primes found from this project will be shown there.

IronBits' excellent LLRnet server will be processing a large part of the range. For general info. on setting up and running the server see this thread. The info. specific to this server that needs to be entered in your llr-clientconfig.txt file is:

server = "nplb.ironbits.net"
port = 5000

We have divided the files up into n=1K pieces. There should be an average of around 1750 candidates in each file and should take around 6-9 CPU days to test depending on your CPU and the n-range reserved. Feel free to reserve as many files as you can complete in about a 2-week time frame.

Please report all reservations/statuses/completions for this drive in this thread. Please report all primes found in the 'Report primes here' thread. Please post all results files in this thread or send them to me at: gbarnes017 at gmail dot com.

Please report all reservations/statuses/completions for this drive in this thread. Please report all primes found in the 'Report primes here' thread.

IMPORTANT NOTE 1: The n=1K files are ~50% larger than the n=100 files in drives 1 and 2 and will be scored accordingly.

IMPORTANT NOTE 2: Please report all top-5000 primes with a project ID of 'PrimeSearch' to properly credit Michael Hartley's original project.

The project Admin's will take care of reserving ranges and entering primes at Michael's site after each n=20K range is completed.

This server is up and running on port 5000

All right! Ready to roll. I'll move 2 cores to it shortly.

IronBits 2008-03-01 05:38

Working very well, socket 6 is opens and closes promptly, and once, when 2 different folks hit at the same time,
socket 7 opened and closed promptly, as did socket 6. Better behaved than the windows version I think.
I think we have a keeper. :smile:

I have 4 cores on it, and 8 cores on port 500 to clean up Glen's mess. :)

em99010pepe 2008-03-01 12:28

Taking 260-280

GLEN's mess?!! Excellent! I'm glad it is somebody ELSE's mess now. I wonder who Glen is though? lol

I put 3 cores for some temporary filler work on them for about 1-2 days around midnight CST last night as a good test. I'll pull them back off to start sieving for this k-range for n>600K starting late Sunday.

mdettweiler 2008-03-02 05:40

Taking 320-321 (please note: this is an n=1K chunk). :smile:

OK, your last k/n pair should be:
363 321000
OK, your last k/n pair should be:

Yep, that's it. :smile:

gd_barnes 2008-03-04 18:10

Beyond is reserving the range of n=280K-340K minus Anon's reservation of n=320K-321K for manual LLR testing.

gd_barnes 2008-03-04 19:24

I changed thread name and some other semantics to reflect thru ~400K.

Since we're currently around n=365K on IronBit's server, we will most likely pass n=400K with the rally this weekend.
