The 3rd RPS Drive: low-weight Ks for megabit prime

Due to the recent interest in low-weight Ks, Thomas has donated
his sieved files for 36 K values starting at n=1.1M. This drive will
take them to n=2M. Any primes found at the current level of
n=1.6M should come in around the top-50!

List of 36 Ks being tested:

Completion times: on the average 2.4 GHz P4 these should take
about 7 days or so to complete (9500 sec per number @ n=1.57M).

Please send results from this drive to Thomas at this address. Thanks.

Happy hunting!

1225to1230 and 1235to1240 updated with latest sieving results, one candidate less in each. But actually Thomas kind of disappeared  and until he comes back with the latest input file with all sieving candidates removed I think we better wait, to avoid processing numbers already sieved-out.

I reestablished connection with Thomas and got the latest input file, but I'm releasing only 4 files because in about 24-30 hrs from now Thomas is going to fill all gaps to p=3T and we'll have a few more sieving ranges completed.

We stopped sieving at 4238bn. Please note that files in the 1295-1330 range (except 1305-1310) still have the old sieve limit of 3750bn, that's because no new factors were found after extra sieving.

BTW.: We are down to less than 9000 remaining candidates! :showoff:

The next FFT length change occurs at n=1326659 (SSE2 machines) or n=1351659 (non-SSE2 machines). Therefore the ranges 1325-1350 would be best suited for non-SSE2 machines (e.g. PIII or Athlon).

Kosmaj 2006-05-18 09:17

Thomas, thanks for the info. I have no Athlons doing LLR but I marked 1325-1350 for people who have them. Gentlemen, declare your Athlons! If there are none I'll remove the Athlon section.

BTW, how about Opterons and Athlon-64's ?

Thomas11 2006-05-18 09:40
BTW, how about Opterons and Athlon-64's ?
In LLR 3.6 (or perhaps 3.5) the SSE2 code got a significant speed-up on Opterons and Athlon64's (significantly more than on the P4 machines!).
Therefore it is now faster to run them in SSE2 mode at the larger FFT length than running in non-SSE2 mode at the smaller FFT length.
