I just found my first >100,000 digit prime, but it wasn't twin:

27783*2^484996-1 is prime! Time : 269.540 sec.
27783*2^484996+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 91D053B67EE74A16 Time : 338.358 sec.

Oddball 2010-10-07 22:08

Another week gone, another (non-twin) prime found:

3981*2^481407-1 is prime! Time : 266.708 sec.
3981*2^481407+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 57B9EC8819DED68D Time : 334.886 sec.

It's my second large prime and TPS's tenth.

I found a prime through PRPnet, but it wasn't twin:

4035*2^481460-1 is prime! Time : 266.302 sec.
4035*2^481460+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 3666DAD2B7AB7854 Time : 334.954 sec.

Also, this prime had already been found earlier...
http://primes.utm.edu/primes/page.php?id=85273
...so I wonder whether he checked it for twins when he found it.

Most likely the original finder hadn't checked it, but since it's listed at http://www.rieselprime.de/, it would have been included with this effort which checked all primes on that list for twins as of 2010-05-07, and then updated that check (finished yesterday, in fact) to include new primes as of 2010-10-06.

Indeed, from my result files:
4035*2^481460+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 3666DAD2B7AB7854 Time : 360.105 sec.
(the residues match)

I found 3 primes over the past two days. One of them was previously discovered (http://primes.utm.edu/primes/page.php?id=87031 ), and none of them were twin:

1623*2^481564-1 is prime! Time : 196.590 sec.
1623*2^481564+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 5B6D67B9B4648D0E Time : 203.501 sec.

17691*2^481579+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 5972440ED6730B0F Time : 334.202 sec.
25515*2^481628-1 is prime! Time : 266.868 sec.
25515*2^481628+1 is not prime. Proth RES64: 772C733BAB69E8D5 Time : 335.950 sec.

I'm now the luckiest TPS searcher with 4 primes found in less than 7400 tests.

The luckiest TPS searcher is the one who finds the twin

On another note, the first post has been changed to show all TPS primes in order of k, not just in order of n.

These primes are too small for the "regular" top-5000 rankings; you only need to submit primes if they turn out to be twin.

Note that the +1 counterpart needs to be tested separately to see if it is a twin. You can do this yourself, or Oddball will do it along with a separate doublecheck of the prime itself (both to be listed in the second post of this thread).

Meanwhile, though....congratulations!

Oddball: Just finished checking the prime and its +1 counterpart. It wasn't a twin.
