I have checked base S777 to k=15m out of 24m now.
rebirther told me that I need the pl_prime, pl_remain and pl_MOB files.
If I add those 3 together I get 7,422,680 total lines, what about the "missing" ones?

There should also be a file named pl_trivial. It also needs to be counted to get the total lines.

Sometimes there will also be a file named pl_GFN. You will not have that here. If you did, it should also be counted in the total lines.

For an odd base, the total lines in pl_GFN, pl_MOB, pl_prime, pl_remain, and pl_trivial should add up to 1/2 of the number of k's searched. (Odd k's are ignored for odd bases.)

Since you have searched to k=15m, the total lines should be exactly 7.5m.

For an even base, the total lines from the above should equal the number of k's searched.

Therefore there are 4254 primes found and 4778 k's remaining.

Can you double-check your files to see if there are other primes that you missed that should be in place of the duplicates?

Thanks,

Hi, I ran this through prpnet and had some database issues near the beginning so I'm assuming that was the cause the duplicates. I will retest locally to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Just curious, what OS are you running PRPNet on? It's surprising to see someone new to the project using it right away.

Since you are already familiar with it, you could take R547 to n=25k fairly easily once you have sieved to appropriate depth.

For my PRPNet setup I have two databases and one instance of prpserver running for each database (different ports on the same machine) so I can run different projects (or conjectures on each). If I only want one prpserver to hand out work, I just shut down the other. The clients will retain their completed work until the other prpserver instance is back online.

I was running it on Ubuntu 18.04, I've been around the space for awhile, been mostly crunching on Primegrid and some SRBase and wanted to take a shot at something different. I think my main issue was the hardware I was running it on was not ideal for dealing with such large database queries.

I have run the server with a thousands of k, but I think the upper limit I have used is around 7000.

In your case part of the issue could be the number of workunits each client gets (set onekperinstance to 1 for CRUS), how quickly the tests are executed, how many clients are connecting to the server, and how frequently each client connects to get/return work. The server tends to perform poorly when too many clients connect at a time.

I ended up writing Gary a script (posted in the Software/Instructions/Questions thread) that can do the sorting efficiently in post-processing. It can sort large files of primes (tested on files of up to 10 million lines) either by k or n and can handle both k*b^n+c and LLR/NewPGen-style "k n" input formats. I think this should take care of Gary's needs on this front, so if it's not easy to have srbsieve sort the primes itself, this can be a sufficient solution.

You could try to test with new base script k=1000, n=2500 and compare the primes with srbsieve
You could try to test with new base script k=1000, n=2500 and compare the primes with srbsieve
I have to test this manually to see what is happening. I had broken down k into ranges of 1e6. For some ranges of n I would see 70% of the k removed for one group of 1e6 k, but for others I would see 20% of the k removed for the same range of n.

I do believe that the srbsieve.ini files that I am using have far too many phases. It should have fewer phases and much deeper sieving. The first couple of phases are okay because so many n are removed in each phase, but as n increases there is a diminishing return in having so many phases since one won't sieve as deeply with such small ranges of n.

I was comparing apples to oranges. The results were okay. It was an issue with restarting srbsieve from a checkpoint.
