No another reservation for now. The "new toy" fever passed, and I have to get rid of the work I have reserved for different other projects first (which had to suffer now because of mmff release).

Luigi

LaurV 2012-09-18 09:41

Then it will be a Double Check...
I am already about [strike]16[/strike] 14 hours into it
Plus I won't reach my computer in the next few hours (still at job) it should be more then half completed...
I will let it finish and let's consider it a double check. Except if I find a factor, in that case you may consider me poacher, but I will report it .
It is not my fault the page was not actual, I saw it changing from the old format to the new format (to include GPU assignments, before it was a smaller table with few CPU work) just under my nose, so I did not imagine that the new values written in the table are not actual.

[edit: I am beginning to understand that table from fermatsearch.org  Please reserve for me the N=90, from 10^14 up. I don't know how high I will go, I have to reach home first and check how fast the wheelbarrow is for this range, I will keep you informed. I will stop the old assignment, report whatever is done of it, and start a the new one for N=90, k>1e14]

LaurV 2012-09-18 13:02

ok, when I reached home the first 4 were done and for the 5th the ETA was about 25 minutes, so I took a shower and ate something and that is now done:

no factor for k*2^48+1 in k range: 750T to 800T (98-bit factors) [mmff 0.23 mfaktc_barrett108_F32_63gs]
[Tue Sep 18 12:51:50 2012]

[Tue Sep 18 16:19:37 2012]
I cancelled 950T to 1P and I cancelled whole N=49, and took N=90 from 1e14 to 1e15.

On the other card first bunch of MM89 to 700T is at class 4344, ETA 55 minutes.

Reserving MM31 = M2147483647

Ernst Mayer has taken MM31 to k = 10^15 that is to around ^81.83 bits I am reserving it for trial factoring beyond that. If anyone knows about if any trial factoring has been done beyond ^82 bits before for MM31 I would be happy to know that. My plans are to take it to at least ^86 bits.

And While I am at it ;-), why not move these threads

Did you fiddle with mmff to extend range? If not it only goes to 188 bit factors which is k=5.5e11 for n=149, k=1.1e12 for n=148..... k=7e13 for n=142.

Batalov 2012-09-30 07:00

I noticed that later. (It depends on the k value; for lower k ranges, it would have run). I am running the early 140s now.

I will probably fiddle, later. (Now that my hands are untied from PE 396, heh, heh, nice one, btw..!) The same limit kicks in for the mmff-gfn and I did want to extend the upper limit for both. The main driver of the probability of success is simply ~ 1/k !* (~ 1/k * 1/(ln k + N ln 2), but the last part is so-o-o-o flat), so getting to as low k as possible is desirable. ;-)

*! is not the factorial sign, surely

That should be k=4e12 to 140737488355327... right?

Too bad that:

1 - For N=100, k starts from 5e13
2 - From N=100, I'd like that reservations take 10 Ns (i.e. N=100-109, k=5e13-6.5e13).

May I ask you to change your reservation?

I'll do FermatFactor=25,5e14,2e15 just for fun (the routines seem to pass internal tests).
Strangely, "FermatFactor=25,250e12,500e12" range is marked as done (in the N tables), but the other tables hold neither results nor a reservation for this region.
Luigi, if it's an oversight, I'll do this range too, right after.

Guess you are working on Fermats. If so, I think this range should be done with FermFact and pfgw: this way you may look for xGF also...

Are you?

You have to search for multiple Ns n the "New rnge search" page... It has been a burden to reach all possible reservations in every possible manner.
Luigi, it was a reservation for MM, not Fermat
Yes, it was, thank you. :ermm:

I must admit I did not expect that so many Mersenne-aries were attracted by this search... and, believe me, I'm really happy about that!

Just forgive me for the errors I may have done (and that I WILL do) on updates: to my excuse I can only say that I am living a not-so-good moment at work, my automatized update page at FermatSearch cannot be reached because someone at the network department thinks that "FermatSearch" is a search-and-compare commercial site and I have to take all updates home, separate projects, work at the new "deep sieving" pages at DoubleMersennes, prepare my Harvard tests and practice sax...

Anyway, at the moment no reservation was lost, and no result was missed.

I must thank everyone of you for the help you offered. :hello: You brought life to this project.
