[B]Thanks, but how would machine 2 then work on something else?

After copying the contents of machine 2's worktodo.ini file into machine 1's worktodo.ini file, just delete worktodo.ini on machine 2. Then machine 2 won't work on those exponents anymore.

Then, use the menus to make machine 2 work on trial-factoring or whatever, and it will contact PrimeNet and grab more work and create a new version of worktodo.ini with the new work.

A related question:
Can I transfer work between Operating Systems? Specifically, can I pull work off a Windows 2000 box and move it to one running LInux?

Yes, if you haven't already got Mprime on your Linux box just download and unpack it into your chosen directory but don't run until you've copied over the various .ini and saved files from the Windows machine, check that the file positions are correctly set (chmod 777 * will take care of it) and now when you run Mprime (./mprime -d) you'll see it take over where Prime95 left off.

oh, and maybe your prime.log file too...
