Status of p-1....
 
Each time the new status files come out from now on, I will post a new status report of how mersenne-aries is going. My original idea was to start from 13M and clear out all the exponents that haven't been p-1 tested ahead of the leading edge of double checking. However, since then I have become a little more confident (mostly due to my new P4) and have decided to start at 12.3M instead.

Anyone who want to help out is more than welcome to. Just reserve one of the blocks of exponents that I have posted and put it at the top of your worktodo.ini file. However, I must warn those of you who wish to join that p-1 testing, when done properly, requires a lot of RAM. Therefore, if you have less that 250mb of RAM allocated to prime95, I would suggest that this isn't the type for you. This is because most of the factors that are found by p-1 testing are found during stage 2. Therefore, if you only have a small amount of RAM allocated (eg 50mb) you will be missing factors that really should have been found.

As you can see, I have cleared out all exponents in the 12.3-12.4M range. I am about halfwayish through 12.4-12.5M. Also, the majority of the 13.0-13.2M range has also been cleared out. The 45 that are still there are assigned through mersenne-aries and should be finished soon.

Now that I have decided to start at 12.3M instead of 13.0M, I will now post some lower ranges to p-1 factor.

I do realise that there are a lot of exponents in the 11-12M range, however seeing as these are on primenet already, I think that we should leave them alone. When double checking hits the 12.3M range, it should speed up slightly. 1) Because they are already p-1 tested so a slower computer doesn't have to run a lengthy p-1 test. 2) We should be able to clear out about 4% of exponents by finding factors.

This week was a pretty slow week for mersenne-aries. Most of my computers were helping out LHM so I didn't get a whole lot of p-1 work done. The 12.2-12.3M range is done, I just have to submit it.

Everything up to 12.5M is now on primenet available for doublechecking. I don't think that it is a good idea to work manually on ranges that are currently on primenet (due to the fact that work may be duplicated), so 12.0-12.2 will remain untouched by mersenne-aries. However, there are a number of people using the semi-automated method of p-1 testing so these exponents may still get p-1 tested yet.

As soon as I have finished my work with LMH, I will start work on the 12.5-12.6M range.

If you would like to help out mersenne-aries, just reserve on the of blocks of work in the forum by posting in it. However, I would suggest letting prime95 use a large amount of RAM so that proper bounds can be run during stage 2.

A bit of a slow week for mersenne-aries. However, I have now finished up my LMH work and all my computers are now back to p-1 testing. I have finished the 12.2-12.3M range (it has been for some time now) I am just having troubles getting to the computer to get the results file. I am about a third the way through the 12.5-12.6M range. It will probably take me about another 2 weeks to finish.

I just finished off the 12.5-12.6M range. I am now working on the 12.6-12.7M range. However, there will be a slow down now because of the FFT change that kicks in at 12.65M. The entire 12.7-12.8M range is now posted on the forums. The majority of it I think is assigned but there are still 4 more blocks of 50 to finish off that range.

The 110 exponents in the 12.8-12.9M range I have almost finished working on and I would expect to submit them within the next 2 days. There is just the 2 exponents left in the 12.7-12.8M range so I would expect them to also be completed by the time the next status files come out. 13.3-13.5M is now available through the forum.

We seem to have finished just in time, as I would expect everthing up to 13M to be released on primenet (just a guess - not gospel). It is also good to see that we have made significant process into the 13-14M exponents. I don't see a problem with keeping ahead of the leading edge of double checking if we keep up this pace.

Well, we were just in time. Everything up to 13M went on primenet just as we finished up the file couple of remaining p-1 tests. Everything up to 14M is now posted in the forum. I think that there are just 2 blocks left in the 13-14M range to be assigned. As soon as they are taken, I will start posting ranges in the 14-15M range. I would like to thank everyone who helps in mersenne-aries work. Since its start, we have saved hundreds of doublechecks from having to be done.
